we'll find out this Friday

although i'd be happy if the Feb new jobs created numbers top 100k, wall street's looking for 125k.
Thursday's unemployment numbers should drop depending on when the albertsons strike is "officially" settled

2.6 million is pushing it. more like 1.5-2 million this year.

hmm i guess ill give this a try.

i'm a recent CS grad (june 2003). looking for any job that has something to do with software development like QA or whatever in the los angeles, region. I guess i'd just like to be around software development and have a job at a company that does that. If i have to do other odd jobs aside from the main part i am fine with that , I can fix basically any computer, have IT experience and helpdesk, I could wash your bathroom , make coffee, anything as long as I get to do some software development related stuff also.

I can code in quite a few languages also, C/C++ mainly, but i've got experience in a lot of others like java, perl , visual basic / c++ , sql etc. Mainly just looking for experience, i'd work for like $10 an hour.

I've been working for a month now and it feels great. But seeming that this is still a consultant gig they will soon want me to go fulltime, which all around isn't bad but now its time to start weighing the pros and cons including relocating the rest of my family from Chicago to Dubuque.

The only problem I'm having with this is the way I see the company treats its salary employees. So choice is either let the contract end next month and move back out into trying to get another gig or duke it out here with a Fortune 15 Company that has a revolving door team of IT.

Other than monster.com, how would recent college graduates look for jobs? I'm a CS major in New Jersey taking my last two classes this semester (3 nights a week), so I can pretty much work full time. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of not applying for internships (which is crucial in today's market). I started looking at job listings on monster.com, and it seems everyone wants someone with tons of experience.

My college (Rutgers University) isn't having any career fairs this month, so other than monster.com and the classifieds, I don't know where else to look..

Concerning Washington D.C. Metro area positions

DigitalNet just picked up a contract for positions with the justice department... around 20-30 network related positions. These are nice spots.
Also SRA and BAE NorthAmerica (both have very nice benifits) are also rushing to recruit people for network security related positions. I am hoping that you have at least a secret clearance for these. The Defense Intelligence agency is also looking at a big time increase in numbers which include people in IT... and to tell you the truth Lockheed Martin is looking for people to fill positions at the Pentagon.

www.dia.mil

Hello everyone, I am new to the forums (today). Anyhow, keep an eye out for digitalnets postings, they may not be listed yet. but will be in the next 2 or 3 weeks. I am looking to transition form the military and it seems very reasonable to find jobs with 55 to 85k a year salaries (still) with a 4 year degree and about two or more years of hands on. At least that is what I have seen from personal experiance.

I didnt have good experiances from the larger players EDS and CSC... !WAMNET may still be alright but the project leads that I talked with on the first two companies were very stressed out people.

Lockheed appears to be looking for people everywhere. I was searching Dice.com for "software engineer" in Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona and it seemed that half the postings were from Lockheed.

A nationwide search on "lockheed" returns nearly 3000 job postings on Dice.
