They are always looking for people.

Problem is that many of the slots require very specific experience and/or clearances.

Example.
I looked at a slot and had all the points indicated.
Then I was told that I only had 5 years of A/C simulation experience. They wanted 10.
These slots apparently are nice to have filled, but not required to be filled for their contracts.

As I see the entry level IT slots, I am trying to alert the college students.

They should contact the big boys in their geographical area directly for intern or entry level slots. Going through the rresume submission system will take longer than they have available.

i graduated 9 months ago. basically same boat as you, wanting to do something relating to software or qa. craigslist.org (clikc los angeles of course) has lots of low level entry level type stuff. i only knew about that for about a week so yeah no bites, but lots of stuff there.

then there is monstertrak.com which has different listings than monster for mostly entry level. like the job i just got is qa, and im pretty sure i got it by applying through that (though i did apply to the same job on many different sites, because i trolled all the job boards).

then theres the usual la times career builder, dices, and monster.com which i'd have to say really dont work that well for entry level college grads, but cant hurt to post a resume.

Try contacting companies that deal with the type of work you may be interested in. Banks, etc may be interested in young cannon fodder

Some accounting firms also could be happy to get a gopher at sub-market rates

thanks, i did not realize that monster and monstertrak were different

they are the same company, but completely different sites. monstertrak has different job postings that you wont see on monster.

you also can directly email most of the posters who post jobs on monstertrak or even call them sometimes , unlike monster.com

Hmmm, interesting:

This looks very similar to free effort started here at Jobnetworking.org:

Kit List - Helping Great People Find Great Jobs

The KIT (Keep In Touch) List is an email job posting service where employers and recruiters advertise permanent or consulting job opportunities to over 28,000 high-quality professionals.

FOR EMPLOYERS AND RECRUITERS:
The KIT List is a fast and effective way to reach prospective employees and consultants in a wide range of fields throughout the U.S.
Since KIT List members are referred by friends or colleagues, the list is maintained with a high standard of excellence for job candidates.

FOR JOB SEEKERS AND CONSULTANTS:
Whether you're actively looking for permanent or consulting work...or you just want to get a pulse on the market...the KIT List provides a daily stream of job opportunities directly to your email address.

The KIT List was founded in 1997 by Sue Connelly, a marketing communications consultant (www.connellycom.com). She created an email list to ?keep in touch? with her clients and friends at Silicon Graphics in Mountain View, California. When the company began layoffs, Sue started sending job leads to help her friends. As those friends added their own friends and colleagues to the list, it rapidly evolved into a powerful job resource.

Any recommendations from those part-timers out there? I need a new job... I've never really been good at the job search game either.

I really don't understand this, job market must be picking up. In the past 24 hours I have gotten setup for more interviews than I had when I was unemployed for a year.
