Original Super Soaker 50 or 100 circa 1989 - Where to buy?

My brother-in-law's birthday is coming up and the family thought it would be a great idea to get him a super soaker just like he had as a kid. Since I am familiar with super soakers, having owned many in the late 80's, I was tasked with obtaining said super soaker. Thus, here I am ATOT, asking you brilliant folks if you can help me find a place to purchase an original Super Soaker model 50 or 100 that is either new-in-box or in relatively good condition for a reasonable price (preferably no more than $20). It is a safe bet to assume that he had either the model 50 or 100. Thus, I am only looking for one of these two original models. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this most important of endeavors. Oh, and the squirt gun has to be in working order.

Edit: Also, the Super Soaker 50 20th Anniversary Edition would be ok too, though not preferred.

One last thing- I know a lot of you will reply with "Google is your friend." Blah. Of course I tried that. The problem is that I/we are not willing to spend $80 or more on this. Surely there has to be something out there for a more reasonable price.

i had both of those and those things fucking OWNED!

i also had the 30 (little orange one) as well as the 200 (double barrel).

i ended up getting the 300 as well that had the backpack full of water. that thing would leak like a mofo haha.

I had the Super Soaker 200 with the two yellow tanks and dual barrel. Also had the CPS 1000. Crazy awesome!

I remember having a 50 and a 100 when I was a kid. Ahh...good times. Good luck trying to find one NIB for $20. There are a couple of used 50's on eBay that are at $20 and under but still have a day+ to go.

The problem with collectibles and the internet is that almost everybody knows what people are willing to pay for an item so there is a homogenization of pricing where everyone is charging nearly the same price. To find deals out there you are going to have to find sources that are less internet savvy. craigslist and garage sales are the first two things that popped into my mind.

Oh man I had either the 50 or 100, I think 50 though. God those things were awesome.

EDIT: According to Wikipedia, it seems like they didn't even come out until the early 90s OP. Perhaps your memory isn't as good as it was?

I was probably 10 years old or so when I had one, and I remember it was way too heavy for me fully loaded. Man, I'd love to have one again. :biggrin:

There were 10th and 20th anniversary reproductions also available. Different SKU if you're searching Amazon or something.

Those old Super Soakers were awesome. I remember a friend having a CPS 2000 and it was very heavy when full. I had one of the backpack models that you fill up by sticking the nozzle of the pistol into a hose attachment... thing shot really far.

I had the 50 w/ a belt that had two extra bottles.

I also had one that had a big ass tank with two smaller tanks and a big pull-handle that you used to shoot...it had 4 different nozzles.

That shit was so much fun.

I can still vaguely recall the day I first ever encounted a SS. I think it was 90, 91, I was like 11 or so.

Nothing blew my mind like that first 50 SS did on that summer day. Everyone else playing with the normal pistal, single pump water guns. Then my buddy pulls one of those out and just blasts everyone with a constant stream. Everyone cried foul... I did atleast until I found out where to buy one myself!

After that, water gun fights were never the same.
