Hows a 94 Lincoln Mark VIII?? Are they reliable? Quiet? How's its gas mileage?

They are RWD correct? Do they coddle you in opulence?

And most importantly, they have a digital dash right?

So since the 240SX is gone, dad is looking at something luxorious. Lexus LS400 are pretty expensive with a 92 being $10k CDN! A 94 Lincoln Mark VIII is $7k CDN in comparision with only 70k kms.

We have something practical, we've had something sporty, now its time for something classy! I would personally go for the 1987 Benz 300E I saw for $4k, but my dad is wary of repairs on it.

So opinions on something in this class of cars? Budget is around 10k CDN.

Thats nice and all, but a brand new BMW is out of the question.

How come these cars are so cheap now? They seem to offer a lot!
Because, there are a few reasons:

1) People want to own other vehicles - BMW, Nissan, etc.
2) New car incentives (0% financing, etc.) has basically hurt the resale market.
3) Lots of vehicles that were prerviously leased have also flooded the market - making prices cheaper.

I just did a quick check on a used Linconln Continental ('94 Signature series) in my area with 68,000 miles on it. Price: $4,500. :;

1) In the two door luxo coupe market there weren't many choices? The only other choice was the Eldorado and the M-B CLK, and the CLK was way out of the price range.
2) dunno about that
3) only 126k Mark 8s were ever produced. Out of that, assume that 20% made it to Canada. Thats a small number. However I've noticed that the Mark 8s have the highest resale value compared to other Lincolns of the same year.

And personally, the Mark 8s have class to them. You can just look at it and it oozes class. Just like the early 90s Benz.

After owning a BIG two door car (monte carlo) I'll never own another. Parking them sucks, and trying to open and close the doors in tight spaces sucks even worse.

My grandfather has a Mark VIII, amazing car. No, they do not have a digital dash though (at least his doesn't). It does have a digital information screen in the center of the dash though, and the information center will readou fuel level and fuel mileage among other things. They are RWD, and they are extremely comfortable, there's even space in the rear seat for a 6-footer with a 6-footer in the front seat. My grandfather gets 25-28 mpg on the freeway.

I did some research on it.

It has a traditional dash but it has an digital info readout. As long as there are buttons to play with I'm happy!

As long as its reliable my dad is happy. I heard they get decent mileage for what they are, and since he drives on the highway (well its actually a parking lot during rushour) everyday it should be ok.

Anyone here know the name of the song in the new Lincoln Aviator Commercial (the one in the rain)?
