The way I see it at the moment is that we have a few themes running in the Democratic party. We have youth vs age, traditional politics vs a rising more left progressive politics. An authoritarian left vs a left willing to work with the right where possible. Male vs female candidate. Identity vs non identity political appeal. Class neutral vs class warfare politics, and so on. All of these topics are unresolved and evoke uncertainty and fear. I think that is why Biden has an advantage and why Sanders and maybe Warren are doing well. A vote for Biden I think is a vote for Obama, a return to a time when we had rational leadership, at least as far as the left is concerned. Sanders has a life long, long, long, record of opposing the ownership of our government by the 1%, the reason why democracy is dead, and Warren fulfills some of that also, if more gently and as a woman. Harris, of course, includes all of the above plus race and youth, but is less well known. My estimation is that a Biden Harris ticket would check a lot of boxes, but I'm just along for the ride. I will vote any Democrat not Trump, but I'd love to see what would be the result of him switching parties.
