Right I need some help please.

I've been fiddling with my menu bar within Yosemite, but I've cocked it up and Accidentally didn't back up the core system files.

If someone who has installed the beta could kindly go to "SSD/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu_Extras" and upload all of the files in there to somewhere where I could download them I would be eternally grateful.

Replaced some of the Yosemite files with Mavericks ones and it's causing my menu bar to not function properly.

I'd just like to reiterate this, it would take very little of your time!

Had obsidian dark menu bar mod installed in Mavericks and forgot to uninstall it before upgrading, after I tried to fix it I unfortunately removed a few of the system icons..

Just installed the Yosemite beta... and...

I couldn't login to my main account. It wouldn't accept my password. I know it was the right password because I just logged into the account shortly before with the same password, and the hint agreed with it.

Luckily I had a second admin account that worked fine so I could reset the password.

Hello! I installed the beta! But it isn't working right! Im not sure why but it might be something wrong with the newness of it. Im new to computers and OS X but i used to have an android phone.

The flat colour scheme is OK, but a little too flat in areas. I guess I'll get used to it though. I'm thinking though that the fonts, while OK, are better optimized for a Retina screen. I don't have a Retina machine. Mine is a 2009 13" 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro.

Has anyone been able to get Netflix to work in Safari 8.0 with HTML 5?

I have Netflix set to prefer HTML5, but when I try to play a video in Netflix using Safari 8.0, it still tells me to load Silverlight.

EDIT:

BTW, YouTube works fine with HTML5 in Safari 8.0 in Yosemite.

Thank you! The mail app is slowing everything and it all looks flat! I don't know. I'm not sure if this is how it is a posed to eork but it's ok I guess. It plays Netflix pretty good.

My friend gave me this MacBook! It's plastic and white so I think not the nicest? But alright for free I think

Yosemite new design is flat, and reflects the design of iOS 7 and iOS 8.

How are you playing Netflix? Did you install Silverlight? It's asking me to install Silverlight, but Safari 8.0 in Yosemite isn't supposed to need Silverlight for Netflix. Strange.

Which model MacBook do you have? It's pretty nice that you got a Yosemite-compatible MacBook for free.

Well, that explains it. I contacted Netflix and they told me it HTML 5 support for Safari in Yosemite hasn't officially launched yet. Expect it soon, but in the meantime we'll still have to use Silverlight.

I guess that's understandable, considering Yosemite is still in beta.

Why does Apple and MS think flat graphics looks good? It looks like crap. Win8.x/OSX10.10 are the Ugliest OSs ever. eva eva.
I'll be glad when this flat minimalist garbage runs its course.

No after switching to this from my old XP machine it's much better even if it's flat. I checked and it is a 2.4GHZ with 4GB of DDR. Is that good? For a PC I think not but a Mac is different It's about 3-4 years old he said which is fine I think it works alright. I just followed directions my friend set it up this way. I am liking the flatness it's much more "real"? Not sure how

I've had Yosemite installed on my third ssd in my desktop. On the latest edition it took a while for getting the audio and Ethernet working since they changed kernels from the last developer build. I'm not sure I like the flatness too much either but it's tolerable.

JoshHedge,
I also upgraded to Yosemite while having ObsideanMenuBar installed.
Of course the un-installer will not work now

Can you tell me how you fixed the system files?

I'll back this up. iOS7 DP1 felt a lot more stable when it was first dropped than iOS8 DP1 felt. I don't know if Apple is slipping quality wise, is behind on the schedule or what happened, but given how many bugs I still regularly see in iOS 7.1.1 (for example, the messages not showing up issue) I have pretty dim expectations for iOS8 (and will be seriously looking at alternatives to Apple when I'm up for an upgrade from my iPhone 5 later this year. I'm ready to kick Apple to the curb, but I don't know what can replace it well.)

I don't understand this kind of sentiment at all...

Both beta 1 releases were terribly unstable. Why would you judge the quality of a release from its first, limited release to developer only beta? It makes no sense. They're on the same schedule they were last year for a release in September.

With the current beta, I've had a bit of flakiness reading a friend's flash card. Fine on Mavericks (different machine).

I'm basing my opinion on experience from last year. Last year, DP1 was reasonably stable, and I could develop fine. This year, stuff just crashes. Still does. My iOS8 phone still regularly drops cell signals, and I'm on the latest drop. Yosemite perf is still pretty awful too - running on hardware. It's virtually unusable on a VM. The level of reliability from Apple's DPs is FAR less than that of Microsoft developer releases from what I've seen...and that Apple's releases have degraded makes me wonder what changed.

Is HTML5 Netflix working on the Yosemite public beta yet?

It was supposedly working on some developer betas but when I tried it on the public beta shortly after release, it didn't work and required Silverlight. Netflix said it wasn't ready yet at that time. Haven't heard anything since.

EDIT:

Nope. Still doesn't work on the Yosemite public beta. After I uninstall Silverlight, when I re-launch Netflix, it still asks me to install Silverlight. This is on a mid-2009 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo 13" MacBook Pro.

Public Beta 2 is now out.

Build 14A329r. Note that Developer Preview 6 is 14A329f, so it looks like this is a later version.

Yosemite Gold Master Candidate 1.0 is now out. The GM has been released both for developers and for those in the public beta.

Build 14A379b for the public beta (but it's 14A379a for the developer version).

What's the build number for the release version of Yosemite? I'm on the latest public beta and get no option to upgrade.

My build is 14A388b.

The official version is now up on the app store. Anybody tried it on one of the older Core 2 Duo Macs?

I wonder if my sisters MacBook took the update. She just got a 13 inch pro retina but when I was over there I forgot her password so I couldn't see or I would have updated it. I don't think she would like the interface though.

The interface grows on you. I've been playing around with Yosemite at work for the last couple weeks and the new UI definitely has won me over. I didn't like it the first time I seen it, but now Mavericks seems...dull. Hard to say why I like the new UI now, but I do. I'll update my home machine tonight.

Hmm maybe I'll look into updating my maverick hackingtosh drive this weekend to Yosemite although I'm sure the same drivers won't work for me. I'm planning to buy a retina pro MacBook myself later this year..maybe after my year end bonus. I really like the 13 inch my sister has its very nice.
