OS X for PC's!?!?!?! Does anyone have concrete proof ???

I was playing around with it at work, and its alot of fun...

However, a pissy little g4 cant hang with a Athlon...It would be great to get an os like that on some real hardware///

its true. apple clock cycles are clocked differently than PCs. you think apple would still be around if all they had were 500 mhz processors? the quickest way to figure out what an apple runs at is to double the clock speed. my friend has a G4 400 which he bought a year ago and he still keeps up with my p3 800. i played with a dual processor G4. oh my gosh! that thing was incredibly fast! now if they could only lower the prices.

Apple could sell piles of dung, paint them in very interesting ways, and call them computers, and apple die hards will insist that they have the most amazing pile of cr@p ever invented. (which they do)

I don't see how anyone can hardly compare the speed of two computers using different OS's and say (just by using it) that one is faster. If you go down the GigaFLOPS and MIPS then you can get a somewhat more accurate hardware comparision but if they're not running the same OS then software can heavily affect the "results". For instance, BeOS feels incredibly faster on my own machine than Windows or Linux does (too bad there's hardly no software for it), and that's on identical hardware.

Exactly, the quality of software design can be just as important as hardware design in terms of speed.

the G4s and the rest of the chips used in mac systems really are far more advanced than the intel x86 chips but there is such a speed disadvantage and the prices are so jacked up that it just doesnt matter anymore...
