While it might be feeding the trolls, I agree with this man:

Anyone we believe to be a terrorist, without a hearing or trial, we should just send over some army killers and take him out? Is this abiding with our constitution? Where is his day in court? Are we the worlds police? This is wrong.

It is wrong to simply kill someone. Its taken 10 years to get to this point and at every turn he's shot at, evaded, blown up, etc. But it is still wrong to kill someone. I guarantee if those boys (seals I'm guessing) had the choice they know full well that they should have captured him alive. But they were taking no chances. Once they started to get shot at they took their shot I'm sure. Its a military action in war and he was a casualty.

It is also wrong to be jubilant about this death. It is not our business to go around shooting anyone we see fit. We should not treat this lightly, and to be jubilant is to encourage martyrhood, which is not a good thing. It would have been a far better outcome to capture him alive and put him on trial. At least with a jury of peers there is an opportunity to save any face we might have lost by having him die in such a fashion.

There is no joy here, but at least justice seems to have been served.

i dont get it, did they kill him today like the president said or last week like the reporters said?

I don't know, but consider the following:
1. If he was killed last week, would it have been kept secret until now?
2. If Obama was choosing when to announce it, would he have chose 11:30 p.m. EDT on a Sunday night?

Seems like cause for joy to me.

Well I had to wait for the Prez's speech for almost an hour. And since Obama was supposed to speak at 10:30 Eastern, it adds to the delay.

But srill great news, Bin Laden's finally dead. He led the world on a merry chase from 1998 to 2011. But finally made that final mistake that had to happen sooner or later.

But I have to wonder about the military logistics, how the US was able to get a big force in and avoid Al-Quida detection. Now the next goal is to get Zawari who maybe is the brains of the outfit.

The downside is that Al-Quida may prove to be a multi headed hydra. And any that think its victory in the war on terror are likely to be proved wrong as time goes on. But we should take any victories that finally come our way.

But maybe we can revel in Bin Laden's brief moments of terror, how long was the interval from the moment Bin Laden realized he was in deep trouble to the final outcome
of being shot in the head?

Are you kidding me? The guy is a terrorist. Every additional day he is alive, he is planning more bad things. If you catch him, you put even more people in danger. Just end it.

Also, lol at college students in Boston. i was that dumb once....

It's not a question of would it be kept secret, more like if it could be kept secret. There's no way they could keep this wrapped up for long, especially with international involvement.

I just really don't give two shits about what any other country thinks about where we caught him or how we caught him. OBL is finally dead. This calls for a beer.

Think CNN said the operation was ordered earlier today.

Edit: Nvm, Obama actually said it was today during the speech.

Is it OK for you to kill the man who kills your son? It is not. Is it OK for you to steal the car of the person who stole your car? Absolutely not.

Just like its not OK for us to simply kill the man who is responsible for several thousand deaths. Let justice prevail - let a jury convict him and at least society says he should die. It is not our business to say "just kill him".

It is also wrong for all of you to be jubilant about it.

He's already been convicted and sentenced. He's taken credit, publicly admitted guilt. What the hell more do you want? Society already said he should die.

Jesus, what a dolt.
