EDIT: Thought this was along the lines of the 1978 or so crashing of a Cesna into the Empire State Building. Didn't realize what this was when it was posted. Had more information been provided by the original poster, I wouldn't have commented the way I did.

For those wanting more info, I've had to hit the british news sites, as all the US ones are swamped.

It's a hot deal since CNN and msnbc aren't responding, so this info is hard to get, especially if you are work without a radio or TV.

I'm on the Upper East side, and we were wondering why we've been hearing tons of sirens over the past 20-30 minutes.

There's video of the second plane going in. FREAKIN' scary. Puts the Challenger video to shame. They show it coming from in R to L, behind one tower, then a ball of flames comes thru the second tower.

No NYC TV stations were knocked out due to this tragedy. I have been watching all three (WABC,WCBS,WNBC) since this happenf on my PC TV. The network broadcast stations moved off of the WTC broadcast tower over ten years ago. Don't spread false rumors!

NYSE is closed for the day, and my daughters boyfriend works at citibankright there at battery park and watched the second plane go into the other tower, thank goodness my daughter who works for an investment firm two blocks from there is off today! I feel blessed.

I can't get to any news sites either. BBC, CNN, MSNBC, or the page on Yahoo with the info.

Here's what I've heard on the radio so far. Two airplanes. The 2nd was a large Boeing (American Airlines I think), that was hijacked on it's way from or to Boston. It crashed 18 minutes after the first, so people shooting video after the first one actually captured the 2nd one hitting. The 2nd had a huge explosion I guess. There are thousands of people that work and live in those towers, not to mention that there are probably a couple hundred on the plane. I'm sure most of the people that were alive got out before the second one hit otherwise it could have been worse. This is pretty major, I wonder who's responsible.

Yes, this may be OT, but this is huge and I'll contribute what I know.

Well, five of seven NYC channels on my RCN cable are off the air. 2 and 4 are broadcasting, but 5, 7, 9, and 11 are off the air.

Supposedly explosion at the Pentagon and a plain went in to Rt. 395. Now updated to a plane going into the Pentagon.
