CompUSA has started strictly enforcing their 14 day return policy. After 14 days no refund, no exchange, no gift card. This comes from corporate headquarters according to a store manager. Also no refunds/exchanges of any kind without a reciept. In the past they would give you a gift card instead of a refund if you did not have a reciept.

I guess Time Machines arent just for the movies anymore. I havent heard of them being flexible with their returns in the last 4 years so saying CUSA is strict is "old news".

Actually, Costco has the most liberal return policy that I've ever seen. "if you aren't satisfied with a purchase, bring it back at any time for a full refund."

We got a table and chairs there and took them back a full year later when the table top started to bubble and peel a bit where it got wet. Full refund, no questions asked.

Yep, they sure do! I have heard that you can buy a dozen eggs, use eleven of them, and return them for a full refund! :Q

I suppose that's what you pay you membership fees for...

The day they implemented the open box - 15% charged returne I stoped buying there, not counting the really good deals (like the 130$) 120Gig Harddrive. So the truth is with their aditue of no customer service they losing money on me. Since the real good deals they do lose cash.

Thats about all they accomlish. Wonder what next they will come up with? They start to look more and more like a Computer City (Anybody remember them) or KMart. I won't cry if they shut down!

Hehe, in sacramento compusa move to the building where computer city used to be, maybe that is the problem. Fry's is the only good place to shop now.

I do, I do. I even have a Computer City mouse pad. I use it as a coaster by my night table.

CUSA does have one good policy...
I'm not sure if this is nation wide, but in the Bay Area (Emeryville), when you buy any CD (game, application, videogame, etc.) you can pay $5 for a two year cd-warrenty deally... Bring the cd back within those two years and exchange it nomatter what the condition for ANY other CD in the store of equal or lesser value... This is great for things that are updated every year... ie buy Madden 2001, get madden 2002 for $5.

And yeah, my CompUSA has been extremely strict about other crappy return policies for years

Costco takes everything back but perishable items. Try to bring your eggs in and see what will happen.
As long as you are not abusing its policy, they will give you a full refund. BTW, ever wondering why there is a block on your card everytime you give it to the cashiers and they have to yell out really loud for a supervisor

<< Company History:
CompUSA, founded as Soft Warehouse in Dallas, Texas, in October 1984, originally sold "direct" to business customers. The company then opened its first retail store in April 1985; opened its first Computer Superstore in April 1988; changed its name to CompUSA in March 1991 and, in September 1998, CompUSA completed its acquisition of the Computer City chain from Tandy Corporation. In March 2000 CompUSA became a privately held company, under the new leadership of Mexican retail company, Grupo Sanborns.

Actually, Home Depot ahs the best retuns policy. I work there, trust me. Need to rent a tool? No problem. buy that $700 concrete drill, drill your holes, then return it for a refund! Even return the bit. You bought a door from Lowes and it warped after you forgot to read the directions and forgot to paint the bottom? No problem. Return it to Home Depot since lowes will nto take it back.

Hell, a store about 15 min away from me has 4 tires hanging in the break room because they retuned them after a lady swore up and down that she bought them at that Home Depot. If your loud, you get a rebate. If you scream, get a full refund and keep the product, no charge!

Yeah they need to shut down all the CompUSAs here in Florida and bring some Fry's down here.

Their stupid @ss 15% restocking fee is laughable. It works for online purchases but COMPUSA is too stupid to realize people buys alot of stuff on impulse when they're walking around the store.
People don't make impulse buys as often online as they do walking around in a store.
Its like the "I got to have right now syndrome".

Ever wonder why Bestbuy is having its best year ever even though we had the 911 incident.
Alot of time people buys stuff at Bestbuy thinking I can always return it but alot of times they never do.

Sure there are always people abusing BestBUy return policy but the good definately outweigh the bad.
