The semi driver was in the hospital a few days, but I'm not sure to what extent he was hurt.

One update...the doctor admitted to my dad last night that James had a reaction to some sort of medication and that is what took him down so very fast. The infection was secondary and his body, weakened from the medicine reaction, couldn't fight the infection properly....almost killed him. Other than that, the situation is about the same....slowly (but upward) improving.

Well, another somewhat of a downturn...they want to put a trake (speel? trache? Sorry, Engineers can't speel!?) in James. This is sad and I have a hard time even thinking about it. Other than that, stable...but not much improvement. It's been a long and bumpy ride.....

That's a hole in his throat instead of tube down from the mouth. So he is not breathing on his own at all? Has he been awake or still under induced coma?

Another update: Brother has the trach. (speel?) now ....his fever is all over the place and he has a staph (speel?) infection! :Q

He is generally stable, but not really improving.

I'll let you guys know if there is an update and thanks for the thoughts and prayers.!!!

Update: 2-5-03....Exactly one month from his accident, my brother is now likely to die. He has no (or little) brain activity and his body is shutting down. They are now pumping fluid off of his lungs or he will simply drown in is own water. I'm not sure whether we make the decision to pull the plug or if more doctors are going to evaluate James. We were told that if he were to survive (1 to 2 percent chance), he would need 100% care for the rest of his life. Thank you all for your prayers.....
