Engineer, I give you my greatest condolences. While our brothers might anoy us, fight with us, or downright be a pain, they're still people we hold dearly. Be strong, I'm sure he would want you to be.
Engineer - I am so sorry to see this post. But I will say this - he is now at peace. They say that time heals all things... And although it may hurt like hell right now, you will be strong and life will go on, with all the good memories you had with him, lasting forever.
Please allow me to express my condolences on behalf of myself and my team mates at BBR. I've been keeping an eye out on this thread, hoping your brother would pull through. I'm sorry for your loss and will be thinking of his family and your family.
My deepest sympathy and encouragements are on thier way to you, your family, and your brother's family.

I'm terribly sorry to hear this awful news. I've been following this thread and I know you and your family probably knew this was coming but when it actually happens it's still hard to accept. I lost an aunt to cancer a few years ago. It's hard and it sucks but as some others have said time does heal the pain you now feel. Be there for your dad, it sounds like he needs your strength.
I've been thinking what I might say since the latest news and all I have to offer is that his heart stopped and your Father and loved ones to make the decision and the rest of the family didn't have to suffer further from the prolonged reflection of the decision of disabling life support or possible months of visiting a vigalance and financial draining situtation. Our modern time in science enabled knowing the brains limitations and that it was time. I don't know if there was a DNA or do not recesitate that someone had to decide but if someone had to place or make that order not to defibulate the heart and attempt to restart the heart, what you described the brain as our science was to know fortunately the time was right and a life of uncertanity was forstalled.

Engineer, I'm very sorry for you, and your's family's loss. I lost my father last november to lou gehrig's disease, different thing, one unexpected and all, but they all hurt the same. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers and if you need any help through this let me know, I may not know you, but it never hurts to talk to someone that can somewhat understand your losses. Keep your head up.

I haven't been around the boards much in the last few months, since I have stopped doing RC5/SETI, so I hadn't been checking this forum and only today have learned about your brother.
As a father of 2 children myself, it really makes you want to hug your family a little tighter when you hear of something like this happening.
I'm back from one of the hardest times in my life.........watching my brother being placed into the ground. I know it's just his "shell" and his soul is watching over us all now....but it's still very difficult. I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...they have helped me tremendously. If you don't mind, I would like to print this entire thread and send to my brother's ex-wife and kids....it will mean alot to them.
In all the bad of my brother dying, a few positives have now emerged....
I have now gotten the relationship back with BOTH my MOM and DAD that I haven't had for almost 3 years. It felt so good to hold both of them...to talk...and to not worry about the past....only look forward to the future. In this, my brother's death brought something that only "death" could do.....brought my relationship with my parents back to "LIFE".
I'm tired (just got home) but, before I go.....in all your family relationships, take a look at all the "good" things about them and try to overlook the bad things.....If only I would have overlooked the bad things so long ago and focused on the good things, It may have made a difference in my brother's life....he may have took a different attitude...may have been....well, who knows...but he may be happily alive today.....hug your parents...your kids....your wife. Tell them you love them as you never know when you won't have the chance again.
