OT: Gaming monitor question for you guys

Currently running on a Samsung 191T and I love it mucho -- but not so much in games. I'm considering selling it and going back to a 19-22" CRT. Really hesitant right now, but I really miss gaming on a CRT...

What CRTs can you guys recommend in the 19-22" range with good bandwidth and something that will just smoke at games/graphics? Quite a few folks have recommended the 930SB. Just looking for more opinions.

What is it about the LCD that doesnt do if for you in games? Ghosting?

There are newer LCDs out there that have less ghosting than the one you have now, but the ones optimized for gaming have sucky color rendition (bad, bad, bad for a photoshop guru-wannabe like myself). If you just like gaming, then you might consider a newer LCD for its benefits over CRTs, though if smooth and detailed color is also important to you, as well as lack of ghosting in gaming, then a CRT is definitely the answer. Unfortunately, I haven't been in the market recently, so I don't have any recommendations of current models for you in either arena.

Unfortunately I photoshop all of the time and color is veddy important... When it comes to gaming I don't even feel liking dealing with LCDs anymore (unless response time is cut down to nanoseconds ) Not to mention I really cannot afford the additional cost associated with a large, brand new LCD. Maybe I should just quit gaming, sigh

There's a "General Hardware" section available on the Anandtech Forums for a reason - use it.

Took me all of about 10 seconds to click it, put in a search term on "monitor" and get lots of threads with people discussing exactly what you're asking about. :roll:

Hey, no need to get one's something-or-others in a wad

Some people (I'd be one) just get rather comfortable in the DC forum, and don't feel like dealing with the sometimes-not-so-pleasant "other folks." Of course, a search of the video forum (or GH) would probably yield some useful results also.

NEC MultiSync FP2141. 21" of high-res goodness.

On the up side...it's huge, fast refresh rates and great text even at very high rez.

Downside...it's huge. Make sure you've got a serious desk with strong support and a lot of real estate.

Of course, NewEgg has great prices and will get it to you quick
