OT: GRRRR - Staplesshipping mini-rant

OK I know this is a tad off topic ..or maybe WAY offtopic but I'm not going to wade throught the BS in ATOT.

Staples had a 19" Monitor on sale this week, which I ordered on Sunday. Now logically you'd think the order would be processed and picked on Monday..right? heck it should probably ship on Monday(but that would be asking too much). So I check staples periodically to see if they changed the deliverydate of 2/20. nope - the site still says delivery on 2/20. So I should get it today...nope(the UPS guy drove past multiple times but never stopped) I call Staples to see what was up - they gave me a tracking number. I tracked it on UPS's website and it says delivery is scheduled for tommorow! WTF!! It also says they didn't get the billing info until almost midnight on tuesday(2/18) and didn't actually pick it up until wednesday at 5:43pm! So I call staples back asking what caused the delay incase it was something i could try to avoid in the futured(CC problem, address or whatever) but they claim it must be UPS's fault since they still show it should be delivered today. They (staples) also said that it left their site on Tuesday according to their system so "it must be UPS's fault". I called UPS later up and asked them for verification that there were no "delays" and that was confirmed. But while I still had the Staples lady on the phone I asked why their site doesn't update with correct delivery times and/or why they don't email/post tracking numbers on shipments that sent via trackable couriers. She said that they can't possibly email/post that info every time a shipment actually ships.
I then asked(still politely) why other "online" places can do it but a big company like Staples doesn't see fit to provide tracking numbers unless you call. All she could say was that she's never had anyone ask for them to be emailed or posted and again stated that it would be impossible to do so on every order

Bah - I give up:|

I know it is only a monitor and YES I CAN wait until tommorow for it, BUT that isn't really the issue here. The issue is that all week their site has told me that it was supposed to arrive today but they didn't ship it until yesterday(oh and it was shipped "ground") The next issue is her claim that it would be "impossible" to provide tracking numbers - I call BS on that too. NewEgg does it - Crucial does it - Comp-U-Plus does it, and etc. The next point is where it gets good - her claim that I was the first to request tracking numbers to be provided when ordering(either via their site or email) - So my response is this:
If anyone who has the time would like to help me out so I don't feel like a lone boob who thinks that they should provide such tracking info - please call 1-800-3STAPLE and politely suggest that they put inplace a system to better communicate tracking info - either by sending emails and/or posting it with your order info which is on their site.

PS - I really wanted to test this monitor tonight since it is being delivered to it's new owner tommorow along with this XP1800 system(-6WUs/day)

Hey Martin,
Don't order online for big items like monitors, specially from Staples !
Go over and pick it up, alot faster and you can talk face to face with someone if there's problems!

That's what I do, I don't like this anonymous stuff.
Just my 2 cents.

Sorry to hear about your experiences, CkG. :frown:

Last year, I got my Philips 109B2 from Staples (after rebates, was US$200), but I went to the B&M store to get it.

I have made a personal vow that my next monitor be one of more professional quality, but it seems that nobody carries the higher end Sonys, Viewsonic or Philips P series, or other decent monitors.

Plus I had better coupons to use if I purchased online Like I stated - I'm not upset (for the most part) about it being delayed - just that Staples doesn't have anything in place to give accurate shipping/tracking info And that's what I want to change

Edit - and for the "quality" of this monitor...yeah it isn't "good" but it is plenty good for what it will be used for -word, email, and such. This system was build for my Parent's Pastor at their church so no "real" gaming will be done

what I hate is UPS can't find my address. Its in the city map and there is only one Aspen.
They had to send a USPS post card and the USPS found the place.

OR tracking shows the package arrived at 4 am in the morning but since it arrived a day early they wait till the next day to deliver.

OR they come to the door and they think cause it is a house no one is home and they fill out a slip and drive off. Then you catch up to them and they say I didn't think anyone would be home.

Or you wait all day long and then go out for lunch for an hour and come back and they didn't deliver cause nobody was there and you can't figure out why they didn't leave it there.

You post business hours and they still won't deliver it during business hours. So you have to wait around and you want to leave and go do other things and can't get the equipment put together.
There is even a building in back so that we comply with UPS as a business.

Life is a highway and I'm marked for road kill!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: guess who isn't getting their monitor until Monday?

/me raises his hand

GRRRR - Now UPS's tracking system is borked - they still show delivery for today but calling them up I get told that it will be monday before I see my monitor.

Bright side is that Staples is sending me a $35 gift card for my troubles ...but I get to wait 5-7 days for that
