I don't think he's showing self-restraint. It's just seems that once he's posted he doesn't check up on the threads. So in addition to his not responding to flames, I've seen more than one follow-up question to him go unanswered. With all the posts he does, I can understand. However, sometimes his not following up the threads combined with his not displaying his profile or PM option can be something of a bother.
