I've ordered from Newegg many many times before, and have been very pleased with their customer service, delivery time, prices, and generally their packing.
HOWEVER, I recently placed an order for some memory (Patriot PC3200/4200 XBL), and it arrived yesterday. I picked it up from my receiving room this morning, and was startled when I got it, because I can hear it's contents moving around inside. When the box rested one way, I would hear a "clack" as the plastic would hit one end of the box. When it rested the other way, another "clack" as the plastic would hit the other side. I finally opened up the box to see that they stuffed the memory (which comes in a flimsy plastic shell, and is almost exposed) with one piece of bubble wrap that's no larger than the memory shell itself! If you can imagine two I's where one was the memory packaging, and the other was a layer of bubble wrap, it would look like this: II . To me, that's pretty unacceptable, especially knowing that the FedEx/UPS/Postal workers usually throw around small packages into crates, and such.
I have yet to test the memory, but if it's defective...I'm guessing that something probably happened during transport. It's too bad that I won't be able to test them out until late tonight, or tomorrow night. I'm going to demand that they pay for me to ship them back to them if there are problems. I've had to RMA a few things to Newegg before, and didn't mind paying to ship them, because I assumed that it was probably the manufacturer's fault, but this time is a little different.
Just wanted to rant.
