Retired Musician/Audio Engineer, currently a Network Tech for a medical billing company. Also have a side business doing PC repair and builds. Very happy with where I am at the moment. Have had offers to go to other company's and take on a more "prestigious" possition, but I am in a very laid back environment and get to wear shorts to work everyday. i could make more money I guess but I would have to dress up a little and it just isn't worth it to me!

Just got a new job with a company doing network/unix admin, security analyst. So new in fact, I dont have my own desk yet, havent moved into the office I will be in, and am stuck with *gasp* developers!

I think they are going to want me to do some Windows stuff too, but Im not into that. Too hard, I just dont understand



Im waiting for my security tools to be ordered so I can get to doing the easy stuff.

The company where I work has openings in it's tech support dept. There are openings for level 1 and level 2. As an outside hire, you'll almost definitely need Citrix experience to qualify for level 2. Level 1 base pay is $26.5k/yr (or technically $12.75/hr, 1.5x OT, one saturday on call every couple months) and being reevaluated in March. Fairly lax environment, slightly less cookie cutter than a level 1 position but still the same ol' same ol' after a while. Decent opportunities for advancement. I'm, a ski lift operator...... at least i wish i was right now.... if there was any snow on the ski hill... grrrrr. I dont work until the hill gets enough snow to re-open.....

I work for a GM supplier. We make the window seal and body seals for most of GM's cars. I currently work in the 270 ROG section but the computer guys are finally figuring out that I know a heck of a lot more than them. The 270 program for those who don't know is the Cadilac DeVille. ROG stands for Rubber on Glass, we mold a piece of glass to the rear glass run channel and as far as I know we are the only ones crazy enough to do it. Tempered glass is strong but we still break some in the 4000 pound mold (pain to clean out too!).

I also run a buick club out of my house for the New England area and repair and build PC's.

I'm a college student, but currently I'm in a co-op semester. So I am working at Georgia Tech Research Institute in the Aerospace and Acoustical division. It's pretty cool work, but the middle management there is severely pissing me off(they never really left academia).

And if your in the area you could always drop by for our anual BBQ/show or our semi anual dyno days (got to love seeing the Buick station wagon pulling over 400hp and over 500ftlbs of torque).
