Politically and physically active old guy. I'm involved in three civic orgs, have a doctorate, a masters, and a Senior Life Saving Certificate.

Tried to do the Duke Ironman two weeks ago, but came down with the flu two days before, so I did the 2.4 mile swim and 30 miles of the bike and was taken to the medical tent. Don't race when you are sick. Or, if you are sick you are probably racing?

I play chess much less these days, but am also past President (a few years back) of our local chess club.

I have tons of Republican friends and we argue politics all the time.

My best buddy is the former world powerlifting champion and he trains my lifting although I don't lift as much as I did when I was younger. He's a McCain supporter and won't vote for Kerry or Bush.

I'd like to learn woodworking too, but I'm afraid I have too few mechanical skills. My wife would also like me to learn woodworking.

I have 2 grown boys and a daughter who thinks she's 40, but is only 16. My oldest son is mentally ill and his younger brother is a senior executive with a large corporation. My wife works as a paralegal because she couldn't stand staying home all day with boring me.

After the election, I'm going to gear up for a marathon and a qualifying triathlon for Escape from Alcatraz. I even have a coffee mug that says: "Alcatraz Swim Team".

Update: I was offered the position this morning (@ Save A Lot)! Hurray! My parents say I can do better but knowing that I can get somewhere in the management world and start over with zero management experience helps my ego quite a bit. I'm going to call the other companies interested in me to see if I have a chance at getting employed elsewhere and then going give the official Yes or No to Save a Lot this Friday
