Claritin/loratadine is not bad, but not as good as Allegra, IMO. (see my link above)

I've heard clinicians refer to Claritin as 'sugar pills.'

How is Fexofenadine superior?

Fexofenadine is more potent.

Efficacy of Loratadine Compared with Fexofenadine or Placebo for the Treatment of Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis.

Clinical Drug Investigation; 2001, Vol. 21 Issue 8, p571-578, 8p, 5 charts, 1 graph

ISSN: 1173-2563

Conclusions: Compared with placebo, both loratadine and fexofenadine provided significant relief of the symptoms of SAR. At the first assessment following the first dose, however, loratadine demonstrated a significant reduction from baseline in TSS compared with fexofenadine. In addition, time-to-event analysis indicated that the reduction in symptoms occurred significantly earlier with loratadine.

If you don't have access to a CostCo, I could buy you a bottle and ship it to you.

I use the same stuff. It isn't 100% effective, but I am allergic to dogs and live with one and I make due. Cleratin works better but that crap is way overpriced. The costco stuff costs $10 for 300 daily tablets. Hard to beat.

Claritin or Tylenol Allergy/Sinus seems to work ok for me.

There was this nasal spray stuff I took a while back that really helped clear my nose and keep it from running. forget what it was called but there are several versions of it and even like pill and aplicator type versions.

I bought some generic claritin and besides the slight headache I got from taking the first pill I haven't notice any hyperness or drowsiness. Bought some generic severe allergy ones before that and they just knock me the fvck out. I knew I couldn't take those everyday while working so I went out and got the generic claritins.

I, too, feel that Allegra is more effective than Claritin. I've been taking loratadine for a while, but the Claritin D I took today seems to be doing nothing for me right now. I'll probably ask the doctor for an Allegra prescription.

That trial was sponsored by the maker of Claritin. (Not that I'm implying anything )

Hi, I suffer from severe grass pollen allergies, live in the grass seed capital of the world, and I think that all OTC allergy meds are completely worthless. Just my opinion of course.

If it persists for a few days I take Claritin D but double or triple up the dosage taking a 24 hour pill every 8~12 hours.

Good lord that is a lot of pseudoephedrine, even if its is slow-release caplets. You're basicly taking 720mg every 8-12 hours when the base 4 hour dosage is 30mg. Your heart must be @ 150 bpm all day long.

It took me years before I could take a 12 hour dose after 4pm and still get to sleep at night. The 24s are pretty much a guaranty that I'm not carshing before 2am.

Just the D (decongestant) variety which has sudafed (pseudoephedrine) in it. And you have to sign for purchases of it because it is used to manufacture meth.

Anyone who uses Claritan or Benadryl or the like.. do you get nose bleeds soon after using them? I've used each maybe about 3-4 times in the past.. and would eventually get a nose bleed later in the day.

I love Pseudoephedrine, but sadly people use it to make meth so I'm scared to buy more than a box at time . I used some benadryl stuff today and it made my allergies worst, instead of being congested I had snot leaking right out. How great was that when i was talking to my professor .
