Other tech/hardware forums? Anand seems empty last few years.

Not dead, but not the same as it was 10 years ago. The last few thread I started seemed pretty thinly replied to.

I am guessing most of us here are holdovers from the late 90s/00s PC era, and many have moved on from being hardware nerds in their 20s, and are working IT folk who have moved onto other forms of life geekery.

Not that younger kids have any clue necessarily. What are some other hardware/tech forums that might be more active ?

/r/sysadmin is riciulously active for those of us unfortunate to be working in the field of mind numbingness. Get everything there from security bulletins to enterprise pointers with vulgarity and humor thrown in. Tough crowd sometimes too, particularly when someone with opposing views trolls in.

Tech section of a Tiger Droppings. https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/tech/

I agree about feeling empty though, a lot of good posters that helped keep this place alive have been run off.

Yea, that might be too hardcore for me. I am strictly a retail level consumer.
I typically like to discuss buying a new phone, tablet, laptop, or PC.
And then maybe some discussion of subsequent repairs or upgrades.
Repairs are now basically handled by Youtube tutorials.

Is the titty feel nipple place still around? Dennilfloss posted there and some others. Can’t remember what it’s called or address.

There's Hardforum, and Arstechnica as far as other big ones go. I'm sure there's more but those are the ones that came to mind.

Hardforum? You shouldn't be linking to porn sites here.

Plus, you better not show up there with an adblock, Kyle kills a kitten for every time someone shows up with an adblocker.

reddit is probably the main one, for better or for worse. But it's more for crowd-sourced information than for the community. A few subreddits have a semblance of a community, but there's too many random people popping in & out all the time to be like how it was here on ATOT years ago.

It's ok, I don't need much of a community, just decent answers to common retail questions.
Which is the Reddit forum?

Link? Subreddit?
I've never really been to Reddit.
Maybe it's time
Yeah you should check it out. It's basically the reason boards like AnandTech aren't as active anymore. This is my first post here in 3 years.

Reddit is a huge site and there are subreddits (forums) for everything. Depends on what you're interested in. If you're interested in computer stuff, start at https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/ and check out the sidebar on the right side for links to more focused subreddits.

Just wondering, let's say the average age at AT is middle age.
Lots of experience, and been around since AT's peak 10-15 years ago, maybe dotcom era.

Is Reddit filled with 20 year olds?
Or have many of the old guys moved over, even the dinosaurs.

Reddit is by and large very young, and left. Weirdly pro-gun for being left. I've found the trick to enjoying reddit is subbing to a lot of niche hobby related subs. unsub all the defaults. That's were the mindless noise is, mostly. You can find some subs that are pretty much working professionals in whatever field if that's what you're looking for.

Was that the one you were looking for?

Yeah I noticed when I went there after posting about it that it was dead. I used to go to that site all the time for their excellent PC build guides. No one seems to do that anymore, budget, mid, high-end buiilds.
pcpartpicker.com
There is/was a thread in hardware for it as well, but it looks like it's no longer being updated.
