Those from Lousiana aren't too thrilled with their governor and want to oust her.

The task is a tough one: in Louisiana, a recall election requires handwritten petition signatures from at least one-third of the state's registered voters, or about 900,000 people, in 180 days, according to Jennifer Marusak of the secretary of state's office.

The 180-day period began Tuesday, when the petition was filed, she said.

When the federal government does a better job with natural disasters than the individual state....whoops. I don't blame them, besides I think this lady is a bit messed up in the head after seeing her talk on TV.

Edit: There are no ties between the Governor's name and my handle. This didn't even occur to me until now.

Well if shes not doing her job I say throw her out. Seems like alot of people didn't know what to do after these hurricanes or just didn't do it. Either way most of em should be out of office.

If we do that then Bush goes too. The Feds were as much as fault as the state and local officials Although I do feel that that local officials were handicapped in what they could do once the flooding started. Any help would have had to come from outside, whether at state level or federal level.

Yeah, let's just throw every one who didn't adequately respond to Katrina out. Starting with the President. The Buck Stops Here. Remember? Oh, that isn't true anymore. I forgot....

Gov. Blanco did as much as she could
Look here
On Friday the 26th she declared a state of emergency
On Saturday the 27th she requested that President Bush declare a major disaster for the State of Louisaina requesting "direct Federal assistance for work and services to save lives and protect property" President Bush declared a major diaster putting the responsibility into FEMA's hands.

The only thing that could have been done would be to issue a mandatory evacuation but with the roads as jammed as they were it might not have done any good. Anyone who wants to recall Gov. Blanco doesn't know the facts.

Id have no problem with that at all.

Thanks for the link that helps me understand what she did do a little better, but seriously is that all we expect from someone in that situation? I dont live anywhere near where hurricanes happen so I dont really understand the way its supposed to go. But living in the midwest I have seen better action to tornadoes that we saw for these two hurricanes...

i didnot vote for blanco, but i donot beleive in ousting her either. in Louisiana a recall of a governor is just impossible anyway. a lot in that article is incorrect. blanco was overwhelmed from day one and she still is. she has no idea of what needs to be done and the money is disappearing as fast as the feds send it down here. whats it going to? she is more in line with politicial ramifications that trying to figure out what to do next. she is a goner in the next election.

Tornadoes have a very narrow path of destruction. Hurricanes devastate huge areas. Areas as far east as Mobile, AL suffered severe damage from Katrina.
