I live 3 hrs from phoenix (the only real sorce I know of)

it ain't worth risking it

artic silver 5 is good stuff if you can get that
but the radio shack stuff will work fine (it even drys up slower than most this high performance stuff)

It's true! While it may not last long before breaking down, it'd be nice to use in a pinch while you wait for better stuff to come in the mail.

i also noticed that the guy in that article used tap water
obviousely the moisture will evaporate in these kinda things that he is using in a few minutes time and his cpu will probably start to die slowly over a few hours or days

that is an interesting test tho
guess artic silver and the other thermal compounds aren't nearly as good as they could be if toothpaste beats them (short term anyways)

Yes, Radio Shack's thermal compound will work. If you want better performance, like if overclocking, Arctic Silver 5 is the new champion, at least where easy application is desired. Otherwise, I think that this is supposed to work even better - but its application is more complicated than Arctic Something X's will be.
