Bah, I just bought memory a week ago. I would have definitely spent a little extra to get that stuff. It's amazing...ddr2-1000 with ease.

That Corsair XMS2 PC6400 looks like a great deal. Anyone know off hand how they will perform in a DS3?

Fine, the new BIOSes have sorted memory problems out, and that XMS apparently no longer uses micron D9 any more anyway (which also means it won't be great for overclocking).

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not looking for a "great" OC, but I might bump my e6600 up a little. Will it be suitable for mild OC'ing?

You can run your FSB at 400Mhz without even pushing that RAM beyond what it is rated for. 400Mhz would put your E6600 at 3.6Ghz and frankly that's a really big overclock. I doubt that your memory would be getting in your way at that level, your voltages and motherboard would be giving you the most trouble! If you have an E6600, that memory would be more than enough. It's the lower multiplier C2Ds that need the faster RAM.

I ordered the Crucial RAM w/ $20 off promo code and it worked fine, put in my order around 4pm. I tried to add a Seagate drive w/ a $5 off promo, but it wouldn't let me use it in the same order. I guess it's only one promo code per order.

Edit I ordered the 2 x 1GB PC6400 XMS2 kit for $279 - $20 instant - $40 MIR

Thanks for the promo link Shimm!
