Outlook 2007

Every time I send an email, I get a dreaded please wait while Outlook configures. This also happens some of the time I try and send and receive emails.

I have let it finish time after time, but it happens over and over.
any clue?

Try reinstalling office, but this time choose complete install.

Was this an upgrade or a fresh install?

This was a standard install of the whole Office Suite. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that did not help. I forget if I did a complete install or not.

Never had these issues with Outlook 2003.

Check the eventvwr (>start, >run, eventvwr + Enter). Look in the application log. Look for errors and warnings from the sources MsiInstaller or MSOffice. Open them up and see what they say. You can post them here if you want.

In cases where I've upgraded people to 2003 or 2007 a lot of times important DWORD values aren't being created by the installer, so you get these strange re-occurring "configuring" or "installing" messages each time a routine process is carried out.

The good thing, in my case, was the application log warnings were very specific and told me what wasn't there in the registry. Once I saw what wasn't being created I just made a .reg file in notepad and imported it to the affected users/machines.

And yeah, uninstalling and reinstalling won't help, as you've found out.

Take a look at the application log in eventvwr and go from there.

Strange. Must be different than what I had.

Are you using Exchange or SMTP/POP3?

Does it do this for all user profiles? If there's only one (profile), create a new one and give that a shot. I'm not talking messaging profiles, user profiles. New username, new password.

I haven't seen this one before.

Just one account. My Verizon account. Only a single profile but I will try and create a new one.

I tried deleting and recreating the email account but that did not help.
