outlook express automatic mail sorting

hello there,

here is my problem. there are 4 of us all using one computer, and we all have multiple email address accounts with the same service provider to recieve and send emails.

we want it so that incoming mail is automatically filed into our own folder so that it bypasses the main inbox directly. is this possible or do we need the full outlook office package to do this?

im sure that something like this is possible through the use of the options but i cannot find a way to sucessfully do what im after.

There are two ways you can go about doing this. The best way IMO, if you have Outlook Express 5+ would be to setup seperate identities. This means that each of you can have your own mail identity with your own folders. You can also password protect your idenity. This solution would only work if you each have 4 different e-mail addresses. If you only have 1 e-mail address that you all share, then you can use Message Rules to sort your incoming mail. If you go to Tools > Message Rules. You should be able to setup filters with certian criteria. For example, you could make a new rule and select it to be sorted by what e-mail address it is sent to, what the subject is, who it is addressed to, who it is from etc. Then you can have the filter delete the specific message, or move it to another folder, or forward it etc.

Like I said, I would recommend that you setup seperate identities, if you each have your own address. If not, play around with the message rules feature in Outlook Express.

Note. Message Rules are only available in Outlook Express 5+, in the previous versions, it was called Inbox Assistant.. also, the older versions of OE do not have the ability to allow you to create identities.
