Outlook problem

OK. Recently, I had to get a new ISP, which meant I got a new IP address for my server. Now, a couple of people are reporting that they cannot reach the POP3 server. It keeps getting an error. Task 'username.mydomain.com - Sending and Recieving' reported an error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I had them re-add their POP3 accounts completely and it didn't help one bit. I had them try mail.domain.com and just domain.com. I had them flush the DNS and that didn't help. I did find it odd how it used their usernam.domain.com. One of the people are using Outlook XP and the other is using Outlook Express. Any thoughts on why these users can't connect up? I tried setting up a POP3 account with my e-mail address on my home computer to the server and it worked fine.

yeah, tried all that mess. i was thinking it had something to do with DNS, since i had to get that changed for the new IP. that was done on friday though and it's now tuesday. it's had more than enough time to propogate. i just don't get it. i can setup an account on my home computer to connect to pop3 to the server here, but they can't.

Just tossing out ideas here...

MX record been updated with the ISP change
Verify port 110 is open at the ISP (POP3)
Can users connect to anotehr POP3 server like an Earthlink or MSN account?

yep, they can connect on their other POP3 e-mails just fine. as stated, i could setup a working POP3 account on my home machine to the server at it's new location. everything has been updated. here's another funny thing. the user with OE said they couldn't get it to work with POP3, but was able to get IMAP to work. hrmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Can you see if they can telnet to your domain at port 110? Just to narrow down the cause of the problem.

as stated in another reply, one of the users switched from POP3 to IMAP and was able to retrieve mail that way. doesn't make any sense. i'm hoping it's something on their end in the building they're in. i just don't get it.

i just remote desktopped into my home PC and setup POP3 with this person's e-mail account and it worked fine. beginning to think it's their end.

Hi,
I got a new laptop and am connected to the internet, but can't seem to get outlook to work.
How do I set it up from the git go?
I use Adelphia cable.
