Outlook stupid behavior questions

Well, starting about a week ago, I lost my "envelope" icon on the task bar whenever there's a new mail. I didn't realize how much I use that icon until it's gone. Now if I receive new mail, it doesn't do anything which makes me miss my new mails.

2ndly, a coworker of mine lost his outlook reminder. Whenever he has a meeting/whatever, usually it'll pop up a box 15 mins (or however long you set it) before the meeting time. Well, that doesn't happen to his outlook anymore. It only happens when he closes his outlook. When he restarts outlook, all the previous (missed) meeting reminders pop up all at the same time.

In both cases, I double checked the settings that enable this options. They are all enabled.

Anyone encountered this before???

try:

Click the Tools menu, Select Options.
On the Preferences Tab, Click E-mail Options.
Click Advanced E-mail Options.
Check to select the 'Show an envelope icon in the system tray'

for the co worker...is his calendar in the primary folder (where he receives mail)? needs to be...

if that's not it, try this, with outlook not running, click Start, point to Run, type outlook /cleanreminders, and then click OK.

good luck

Yeah, I double check and that was set. I even unset it, quit outlook.. then re-set it again. still doesn't work

try this (assuming xp) for the envelope prob:

Start>control panel>Taskbar and Start Menu

Choose "Hide Inactive Icons"

Hit "Customize"

make "You have new and unopened items", "Always show", then Ok

genius!

Even though I have "Hide when inactive" which I assume, means "not hide when active", I guess suddenly that doesn't work.

THANKS!!!!
