"# SALE ENDS TODAY:
# 3:00PM Pacific
# 4:00PM Eastern "

WTF? Do they determine what time it ends for you based on your shipping address or IP or what?

weird for me it said 4 P.M. Central and 3P.M. Pacific which is the same time. It didn't say anything about Eastern.

Mine doesn't match either but I did what rcllbrg recommened, to take pictures of the box and drive with the invoice, then sent it to the the email address to see what they will do.

I just received 2 PATA drives and they are both 7200.10 made in Singapore.

The Serials match but the Part Numbers do not. The drives show up as 'unknown' on the Seagate site when trying to confirm warranty.

I got mine, a PATA for an external backup box, it is a 7200.10 but the warranty shows up as OEM even though the box the drive came in states "5 Year Limited Warranty".

I sent an email to Seagate to clarify.

Ugh, I got a 7200.10 SATA drive that reports 5 year warranty from the box serial but OEM from the drive serial. Normally I wouldn't be worried but I threw away the box earlier today before learning about the mismatch. I think I'm screwed.

Voted. I'm still waiting to hear back from Seagate as well. Hopefully they'll make this as easy on us as possible. I'm betting if you save the emails with the pictures (print them out and file them) that should be enough proof for the warranty. In the end, a 5-year warranty makes a big difference to me, since this drive will be getting heavy video recording use.

Or a juicy class action based upon misrepresentation.

I predict that if Seagate's legal department finds out about this situation, it will be fixed pronto. In the meantime, I'd suggest keeping the box, photos of the drive, hard copies of everything including the webpage.

has anyone actually tested their drive to determine if it's indeed faster with the perpendicular recording heads?

I just opened mine... confirmed 7200.10 w/ a 5 year warranty on the box and an OEM warranty on the drive.

I'm emailing Seagate my documents right now... I hope they fix it.

Opened up both my SATA and PATA. Both were 7200.10 drives, with serials not matching those of the box. The box worked for the 5 year warranty, the drive's serials did not. I'm just going to keep the boxes. My sata's serial started with 5QH.

Dear Aaron,

We would request you to kindly refer to the part number i.e on the retail box if you require warranty replacement in future and please preserve the proof of purchase.

If you have any queries mail us back.

E-mail them back and tell them that you shouldn't have to keep the box due to their mistake.
