What's really horrible is I just started participating in this forum about 2 weeks ago. I just found out about Outpost. It was so damned exciting. I called their number and said, &quot;Do you guys REALLY ship overnight free to the US?&quot;

&quot;Okay, but I'm in Alaska. Is it still free?&quot;

&quot;Yes but it takes two days instead of one.&quot;

No problem! That was beautiful! Do you know what it costs to ship overnight to Alaska? A lot. So it was good. TWICE I put stuff in my shopping cart, and then decided not to order right then. Then I went there today....

Game over, man. Game over.

One redeeming thing is that I can probably still be WAY ahead by getting together a $100.00 order and having them send it to Alaska with free shipping.

Hey I think I have a solution to the problem!

Everyone that plans on boycotting should do this instead..(it yields better results). Go on a Hunger Strike until they give you free shipping again. You must even persue this to the death! If people start dying they will have to change their policy! What's more is you won't have to give up their incredible deals, you'll save money by not eating, and you may be able to make a difference to the world (if you die).

May be we can now start Anandtech Local Chapter, that local Anandtech member gather together to buy from Outpost.

Then we can still get CDR spindle in small quantity with no shipping charge, except may be you have to go out to pick them up, e.g. a lunch or beer gathering to pick up the goods from another member.

May be if you don't mind $1 service charge and if someone is willing to make $5-10 profit for the inconvenience of placing the order upfront and collect the money after he redistribute the goods, then you guys and gals cn help each other.

And people can take turn to place order. Details about getting prepaid upfront or after the order is up to you guys. People can figure out themselves.

Just a suggestion.

Just saw this news article posted on a news site about Outpost.com. It explains why their policy changed... someone else took over the company in January.

I always figured their higher prices were due to the cost of shipping. Guess I was wrong. If they were smart, they would still at least offer free ground shipping, but I doubt it.

Well she very well could be lieing. Most companies do. I would bet she is myself.

Buy.com is also no longer low in prices, I used to like them best. Egghead currently still has low prices compared to most(according to shopper.com). I like Amazon.com too, just their prices aren't the lowest, but I really like how they show the product, and have customer reviews shown beneath the product picture.

I feel sort of bad for ordering numerous $5 and $10 items from outpost, they probably didn't even make a gross profit on them.

I don't see why most of you moaning and bitching here. If you still want free shipping, just order $100. If not, order somewhere else. Sure, they aren't exactly the cheapest store; however, you have the rights to not purchase from them. I doubt they'll lose all their customers, they will only lose people like you.

p.s. I do not work for outpost nor have any affiliation with them, nor will I receive any benefits for posting this. I will kept the new policy change in mind and in future purchase, I'll compare with other stores and make out what is the best deal seem to me. I would also like to point out outpost's overnight delievery is the best delievery service I've received from online companies that is free (although mushkin's ram package is pretty cool and it's 2nd day fedex I believed).
