It is ridiculed often. Weight lifters are portrayed as dumb oafs who can't do a damn thing with their lives except lift weights. Not to mention, I wear XL t-shirts and most of them are pretty "fit" on me and people always make fun of people who lift weights wearing medium sized shirts to show off their muscles.
I like it when I tell people I am a software engineer and they are shocked because I don't look like the "typical" software engineer.
There are a LOT of things I do that are made fun of constantly ... lift weights, am hardcore into video games, program software. The list could go on. Does it bother me? not in the least. If people tell me I'm a geek for playing video games on a Friday night, screw them.
And as others have said, weight lifting has positive results, not negative.
Well, I'm glad that you are happy that people ridicule you. Kudos to you. Personally, I get a little defensive and/or angry when people attack me for things I like to do.
thats insecurity.
No, that's called a normal reaction.
And normal people are pretty insecure about stuff, they just don't want to admit it.
