I agree with this. I moved from the midwest to California about 8 years ago and was ready to punch people in the face within minutes of arriving for using the word. This problem ranks up there with the pandemic outbreak of AIDS in South Africa. Every night the over use of "hella" jerks me awake me up in a cold sweat.

i stopped using it. it's out of control. it was fun before .. now it's just hella lame.

i remember one day at my community college there were two kids, prolly around 18 and all i heard was "HELLA" and "DUDE". it really annoyed me. since then, i vowed to never use those words again or in a small amounts. I still dont use them that often. all for the better.

an ex came back from berkeley one winter break and unfortunately picked up the habit. every instance the word was used i felt like pulling my ears off and beating her mouth with them. worst habit she ever picked up. the worst part of it all is that i unknowingly picked up the habit myself. i've supressed it for the most part, but the word still creeps out at times of drunkeness.

'hella' is hella hecka double-decka lame.
