Some OMs are substituting the advertized 8x dual format DVD writer with a Pacific Digital 8x Dually. No MIRs - $79.99+tax out the door. Not sure if all OMs are doings this so YMMV

01/18/2004: Subject edited to reflect that the deal is over

or would i have to go today?

Yeah, mine seemed to have plenty of them too. I was hoping they would be out. I'm going to call them this afternoon to check if they are out and keep trying back. No guarentee they will offer a substitute though!

I was in the store 15 minutes after it opened this AM and they were already passing them out - I think they only had a few if any of the advertized ones and must have been prepared for this, as they had plenty of the subs isn stock.

My sub is a white drive in a pacific digital box.

OM in Cedar Rapids, IA did the substitution for the Pacific drive.

BTW - Best Buy has Memorex 4x 50 packs of DVD-R for $50 after $50 instant rebate.

Ahhh - Repost - covered in this thread

Also covered somewhat in this thread

Anyway earlier today I picked up the Pacific Digital drive at OM for $79.99 out the door - no rebates to deal with since they were out of the MagicSpin advertised.

just curious though - before I open it, I am trying to decipher what drive is in the box. I really prefer the Lite-On 811. But the OM had an open box Pacific Digital at the store - and I snuck a peak inside and saw the drive was a rebadged BTC. Checked the boxes - and the BTC had a serial number on the box beginning with P. Looked at two other sealed packages - one had serial number beginning with P, the other had serial number 43234601xxxx.

Anyone who has bought this pacific digital and opened it - can you post what you have (A Lite On or ???) and the serial number. Thanks !!!

Re-post - you are kidding - these guys all refer to the original ad which was for a different drive and with $50MIR. How is that a repost and how is someone supposed to find this if it's burried in a different thread?

Go back to bed

Box states model no 302001. The white drive states: BTC Modell Number DRW 10081M manufactured by TOP-G - I don't think this is a lite-on though

Give it a rest. Not everyone has unlimited time to read every thread. This happens all the time when someone will discuss an upcoming ad and then once the ad is out or something else develops then a new thread gets started.

I got one at the Kalispell, MT store for $79.99 out the door, no tax for us. They were also out of the khypermedia discs and were substituting HP 25 packs for $9.99 with no rebate. Got three packs of discs, and a pacific digital dual-format drive for just under $110.00. Great Deal!
