best buy has 50 pack of Memorex DVDrs for 50 bucks. That's 1 dollar per disc. Not quite as low as the OM 25 pack deal, but no fricken rebate to mess with.

The 2.4 X HP's which are being subbed at OM are $19.99 before the rebate. If you don't want to mess with the rebate and you are satisfied with 2.4 discs, OM is still cheaper than BB.

If you want 4X discs for $70/100 (no rebate), check out the Imations at Office Depot:

I got the darn Magicspin but got a sub PD CDRW instead if the Khypermedia CD-RW. I am having trouble with this thing making coasters, so I may shoot over to another Officemax and return this drive. I was having no problems with my Memorex 2.4 DVD+RW drive.

They told me to just use the rebate and UPC for the sale drive and state that the drive was a substitution on along with the rebate form. I would prefer the out the door price and may just return it if they don't give me an out the door price.

OM in Lexington, KY subbed the 2.4HP's for $9.99 + tax out the door and they have a $10.00 MIR = FREE + TAX. (Limit 2)!

I heard that the HP disks are the same CMC disks that are used by Khypermedia. So getting the HP subs would make no difference.

Snagged one in Austin TX. Picked up last two magic spins and one Pac Digital Drive. The Pac Digital is a Lite-On and the only store with either of these in stock is the downtown location on West 5th. As of 6:54 PM tonight they had 3 Pac Digital boxes left. Thanks goes to the OP.

Well, actually it does. The KHypermedia are $9.99 after a MIR. The HP's are $9.99 before MIR, and if you did get the $10.00 MIR, they would be free.

Just to be sure, of those who got a Pacific Digital whose serial number started with a P, can you confirm that the actual drive inside the box was a BTC? Pacific Digital tech support seems to be unaware that they are selling BTC 8x drives. They have repeatedly stated that all of their 8x burners are Lite-Ons.

Just installed...same here. I'm thinking that NERO 6 is the only version that will work with this drive? Anyone else's thoughts?

Downloading Nero6 to try right now. I've heard bad things about Nero6 though....

Maybe I'll try the software that came with it!

I just picked up one from OM. I got a Lite-on, they had only 5 left in Sacramento, Ca and I just bought two. Out the door, they were 86.19 each, no rebates. Now I have to see how it performs.

Nero 6 finds the drive just fine (Demo version). Will play with it. I wonder if the Sonic MYDVD software that came with the drive is worth installing?

mines a btc, I burned 3 dvd-r at 4x on ritek g04 disks and they all play fine in my standalone. All passed verification. I might keep it for a while

Got the substitute Mach-8 (U-30201) , BTC DRW1800IM, with firmware 0052 ( Successfully burned DVD-video at 4x with Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator 6. Can't find a option to burn at 8X with Nero 6 & Nero Info Tool.

I recieved one with a serial that starts with P. After opening it up and looking at it, it clearly has the BTC logo on it

Picked up a Lite-on drive as well, but they ran out of the dvd-rs, both the advertised and subs.

Anyone know why this deal is really HOT, aside from the fact that you don't have to wait for the rebate?

picked up the last one in the emeryville, CA store. too bad they are out of the dvd discs, even the sub. was told the sale goes till sat, so have to check back. by the way, fairfield store are out of the drives/sub and dvd/sub as well.
