Anyone have the link that shows the compatibility list between the burner and the different types of media and what speed they can burn at?
This absolutely worked for me. Thanks again Richard.Originally posted by: Richard98

I installed the 851. It will NOT burn the Ricohjpn 4X DVD's at 8X. I've read that the 811 will burn these at 8X. Also, I thought there was a bitsetting option on the 851, but this option doesn't show up in Nero. If you have a choice, I'd go for the 811.
Found a firmware hack to burn those 4X RICOH discs at 8X on the 851 HERE

No hack is needed for the 811S. It can already burn RITEKJPNR01 (Ricoh 4x DVD+R) media at 8x.Originally posted by: LordSnailz
Is there a similar hack for the 811s?

I got the drive yesterday in DeKalb OM. havent opened it, but according from previous posts it seems like I got the Liteon 851 drive and not the 811 as some of you guys are reporting.
Any big differences? Ive been searching through reviews and it seems the only difference is the CD-R burning speed if i remember.
adding to your list of OOS Bay Area stores... Walnut Creek says they're not doing substitutions, and Concord says they're out.Originally posted by: simo
Completely OOS all over the Bay Area - Mountain View, Campbell, Santa Clara, Milpitas, San Jose (monkied must have got the last one! )
All of them were doing the subs apparently, but they're OOS too!
