My Kenwood H2A has served me well over the past 8 months.... Granted it does get a little hot and the screen is hard to read in direct sunlight, but overall it works well....

That being said, if i had a choice i would have gotten a Brix Streamer, but since the H2A was free, i wasnt complaining

Let me ask a question here anyway... basically, I only want Sat radio because I can't get any regular radio reception in the office. What would I have to do with this unit in order to have it working in the office? I know that the other sat service has some sort of boombox but I didn't notice anything like that with this one.

With the home dock any of the units can use auxillary inputs on a boombox. Also Audiovox has a boombox for $99 which directly plugs the Audiovox PNP2 into it.

You can also stream the music channels through your computer for free when you have service.
I found that to be a big plus over XM.
You can go to SIRIUS.com and sign up for a 3 day trial if you want to listen to the quality.

My unit is in transit as we speak.
The DJ's over at XM talked WAY too much for my taste.

FYI- You must also purchase a pre-paid subscription when you check out on this deal.

As far as quality of sound goes, check it out at your local Circuit City. They use some sort of compression DAC to convert it. Sounds better than radio for sure.

The net service is not anywhere near the quality of the actual streams.... I would compare the actual streams to between a 128kbps and a 384kbps mp3 depending on the stream....

They truely are CD Quality....

You can get the home kit for any of the mobile units.

For this deal you just choose the free home kit instead of the free car kit.

You can only choose the mobile or home dock for free. If you buy the deal with the free car dock then it will cost you $49 to add the home dock which connects to inputs on your stereo. If you want to listen to it in your home only then select the home dock for free.

I've been looking in getting sat. radio for some time now, and have always leaned toward XM simply b/c a friend of mine had it in his car.

I did a search online for the differences between XM and Sirius, and found them to be very similar. Why did you guys pick one over the other?

well first of all i want to listen to it in my car. so paying the $49 i can get everything i need for my car. minus the subscription...

which one do you recommend the full year service or the semi annual service. also which receiver, i just like the look of the Audiovox SIR-PNP2 the most... but i have no clue on the performance of the others.

I went with the Sirius because I listen to Dance and Hiphop and liked their selection over XM. If your a Rock and Roll fan Sirius offers the best selection hands down. You can listen to the Sirius Stations free online for a 3 day trial! FYI this deal ends today.....

The Audivox PnP2 is the most popular. Any choice between Audiovox, Clarion and JVC would be my preference.

I've had Sirius for almost a year and i must say it is great! the stations are always coming in clear , even in the city. the signal rarely cuts out, even when traveling under bridges and overpasses. the only time it has cut out was when i went through the new tunnel in boston, and even at that, it took a good 15 seconds AFTER i entered the tunnel (1/8 mile in) As for the receivers, i have the first generation audiovox, and it has performed flawlessly. The FM modulator is ok, i still get some interference on the 88.5 in some areas. programming on sirius is great, very diverse. i am a huge fan of the rawdog comedy channel. well worth the money, and highly recommended

Well, here's where I am confused.

Last year, I bought an Alpine MP3 headunit that has support for XM, not Sirius. I assume in order to go with Sirius, I'll have to use the FM modulator in order for it to work on my current Alpine HU. Since I've already got XM support with the Alpine, would I just be better off going with XM?

Also, how well does the FM modulator sound?
