Overclock 2.C FSB800

I have a system with 2.4C FSB800 with 512 MB of 3500 DDR. What is a best way to everclock this system?

Thanks

Change the divider to the 5:4 ratio and bump that FSB up to 250!

Not sure how to everclock yet...

1st thing u have to do is specify ur hardware like what mobo ur using, brand of memory, timing, video card, etc....

People can help u better if they know what they're working on so pls try to be as specific as possible.

I have MB ASUS P4C800 deluxe. Memory is Kingston HyperX 2X256 DDR 3500. Video card is ATI RAGE 128 Pro Ultra.

I take it you're not a gamer then? I think on the Asus there's a 30% overclock option. Try that first.

I will try 30% first. Can I also overclock memory?

Considering its Hyper X 3500, you can do a good bit of overclocking..

A good 220+ FSB on the 1:1 ration and a 250FSB on the 5:4

forget the AI oc feature, turn it off to MANUAL then you'll see it.

ya, definitely don't let Asus do your overclocking...

i'm not TOO familiar with pentium POS's hehe jk

but if your raising the fsb to 250 are you really getting 1000MHz fsb after the quad pump???

Even an AMD system should be able to do that math ;-)

Yes, if you run the RAM at 1:1 rather than the 4/5ths ratio, then the RAM runs at the full bus speed of (in this case 250MHz) x4 with the quad pump. For some systems, the RAM cannot keep up, so you have to clock it down to 4/5ths (200MHz) or 2/3 (166Mhz) for really weak RAM.

I set CPU external speed to 250. Windows shows that I am running at 3.00 Ghz. But when I had 30% overclock it was over that. Does that sound right?

Raise you FSB another 5-10 FSB,but put your dram ratio on 3:2 (266).For now I recommend 3:2 and memory timings of 2.5/3/3/7 to find out the limit of your CPU.Just keep raiseing the FSB until you can't boot into windows. From here you can add vcore voltage from 1.525 to 1.575 preferrably.Just don't go over 1.6V.If you prefer to stay at default vcore just back off FSB 5 (or more if need be) when you can't load into windows and run prime95 or some 3DMark2001SE to see how stable you are.Once your done with that and find out the limit of your chip we can play with the vdimm voltage and memory timings later.

never thought of that, but i have been away from intel for a long 2-3 years. considering the barton, but those are the last amd athlon xps so it isnt a good upgrading mobo to have.

how about the p4s? for the 875P chipset, how many more P4s will support that chipset?

LastRide,
OK, I am running at 285 external clock speed. Memory is 266. I have changed vcore to 1.575.
What do I do now? BTW, I have Asus motherboard utility and it shows that I have vcore = 1.616.

Thanks for help.
