Personally I find max stable in IBT, OCCT, Furmark, etc... and then I downclock some to give some extra margin. I need my computers stable, and you're not going to be able to tell the difference between 50 MHz less without a benchmark application. Better to be stable and have some margin too. I'm not someone looking for overclocking records, I need to be able to sit down and use my computer at any given time for any given reason.
If your computer is giving an error in Prime when it's freshly assembled, then what's going to happen in a couple months when you get it in place and the dust starts settling in, or you get a heat wave. No, I don't think I'd run with an error like that. Especially 40 seconds in.
