Well from what I've read this is definitely right place to post for help overclocking! I would like to overclock the x2 3800 to 2.4 ghz at low/moderate voltage or 2.5 ghz at moderate/higher voltage.
My system is:
-AMD x2 3800 cooled by a thermaltake heatpipe cooler with fan(better than stock but less than big typhoon)
-DFI lanparty ultra D
-OCZ platinum EL (2 GB) 2-3-2-5 1 T (which is stable up to ~ 220 mHz)
Currently I can be dual prime 95 stable at 2.4 Ghz with full large fft temps at 43-46 C. Idle temps are 25-30 C. The setup for this is 10x 240 with memory at 166 to give 200 mHz exactly. Vcore stable is 1.44-1.45 V. I haven't touched any other voltages except memory which I have raised to 2.7V
I cannot seem to get prime 95 stable at 2.5 Ghz, and at lower voltages for 2.4 Ghz. One core always fails early. I can run the bad core by itself for however long and it won't fail but soon after I turn on the other core with the second prime95 I start to get errors. At 2.5 Ghz I would run 10x 250 with memory at 166 to give ~208 mhz.
I'm measuring temps with speedfan and ITE smart guardian and they are close to what I see in bios so they are probably right. Any suggestions of what I can do to be more stable with less volts at 2.4 or to get stable at 2.5?
Thanks!
