overclock question on 9500 w/infenion

i have a 9500 softmod to a 9700 with infinion ram. and can take my core up pretty high but my question is on the ram. i know infinion sucks at overclocking but when i push it to 310mhz, the only thing that shows artifact is the nature test in 3dmark01. everything else:3dmark03, vice city, jedi knights 2, rthdribl demo, ati's demos... shows no artifact. so i'm wondering if it's safe to run the memory at 310mhz?

sure, it wont kill you... worst case, you kill the card... its only an object.. you can get a new one...

actually, i'd advise you dont run it at that speed unless you get some sort of cooling on the ram

Cooling probably won't matter, or it will give you a 5MHz boost in o/c performance. Infineon RAM seems to hit a wall; cooling is not an issue, it is just incapable of running higher.

As for the artifacts, if there are artifacts in the Nature test then I'd back down the o/c. Games will start using more and more pixel shader features (what Nature uses) so eventually you will get artifacts in that game. Also, why bother being so agressive - if you get graphical artifacts in anything in my opinion the o/c is too high. The extra speed is worthless if the screen is covered in crap!

Just back it down to 300Mhz and you should be fine -and safer over the long term as well!

Only 270MHz is required for a 9700np, so don't try pro speeds in case it has any artifacts.
