Overclocking 1.0Ghz Thunderbird?

I have a 1.0Ghz Thunderbird and a Asus A7V board w/o onboard audio. 200Mhz Bus

bios version 1007

What can I over clock the thunderbird to with the standard fan?

I belive I can do this from the BIOS how would I do this as well?

Built many computers but never bothered to overclock one.

There should be an option in the BIOS that lets you increase your FSB settings. It should be currently set to 10 x 100, where 100 is the FSB and 10 is the multiplier. Certain steppings of the 1.0GHz T-Bird provide for very nice OverClocks while other steppings really limit the overclock. You may want to look into doing the Pencil Trick on your processor because it should provide for a better overclock. However, you can overclock it just by increasing the FSB. I currently have a T-Bird 1.0 @ 1.323 (10.5 x 126) using a standard HSF. I have recently ordered the ThermalRight SK-6 and will be installing it as soon as it shows up. My overclock is also limited to 1.323 because the PSU I am using is only 235W, so I am going to upgrade that soon too.

Because the A7V is a KT133 chipset, not a KT133a, the FSB speed is pretty much limited to 110FSB & more likely 105-107FSB stable.

minendo is right about unlocking the multiplier to get the max o/c. If you get the latest BIOS, you can set the multiplier up to 13x by using the 12.5x jumper settings, providing the stepping of your cpu allows that high an o/c of course.

I've also found that upping the voltage to 1.85 (1.9 in reality) helps get another 50mhz out of a t/bird. Make sure your cooling is decent though b4 upping the voltage.

The KT133 chipset rarely go beyond 110 FSB. The max I've seen is 112 FSB. Thus, FSB adjustment is minimal for ur case. 107 FSB seems to be the stable no. to go w/.

U can however increase the multiplier if u unlock the CPU. To unlock...c here. Unlocking the Duron & Athlon (T-birds) is the same.

I can push to 1325 as you did but temps get to high. How hot does your CPU get and is it stable and how long has it been running at that speed? I don't wan't to fry this baby but 1325GHz is impressive.

He has a A7V w/ a KT133 chipset...not the A7V133 w/ a KT133A chipset. He can't do 133 FSB.

You can possibly get close to 1.5GHz, but with either a non retail HS or by replacing the existing fan with a high-perf one.
