I overclock because it's low-cost fun and performance.

The Big One, the great chip that overclocks like heck and will be the talk of the forum. But, even with a lot of practice and experience, fishing is also due in no small part to sheer dumb luck.
I wonder what would happen if Intel or NewEgg sponsored a forum-wide overclocking competition. People would order CPUs of certain models at discounted prices, and the highest Windows-bootable overclock at stock voltage with air cooling wins.
(I'm assuming the results would be meaningful because the deltas between Windows-bootable and stable overclocks would be comparable amongst all the chips.)
This would sell a lot of hardware, and ATF forum members would get a nice discount.
Eh, maybe it's just a pipe dream.
