Coolbits can't slow it down. Either you're accidently downclocking or your NV video card reacts poorly to increased clock speeds.

i guess so, ive tried 2 diff oc'ing programs and the graphics become really sluggish, and then i set it back to defaults and its all better...wierd?

No, not weird. It sounds like an unfortunate case of a video card that doesn't like to be overclocked. Which specific card do you have by the way?

ive got a Leadtek 5700 regular...i mean, its gotta oc...and my temps are down.

More issues than just temp. affect a card's ability to overclock. But we can investigate in that vein. How's the cooling on your card? Have you tried removing the GPU cooler and reapplying the thermal compound? You might have little to no compound right now, some AS5 or Ceramique may help your cause tremendously.

No, you have no idea what the temp. is of the 5700 GPU. As far as I know there is no temp. readback for you to monitor. It seems like you are assuming that the case ambient temp. being good means that the GPU temp. is also good. This could be true but probably not.

You should check the GPU cooler for proper application of thermal compound.

i'm not stupid dude, my GPU temp is at 34 C and ambient temp is at 34 as well

temperature isn't the only factor affecting a card when you OC it. some cards just cant handle being overclocked. remember, when a company (like nvidia) mass produces cards, each card is not 100% the same as the next one on a molecular level, some just happen to be a tiny bit higher quality than others, so they overclock better. if, as it seems with your card, you can't overclock, its best to just leave it at stock speeds so you dont risk breaking your video card.

if performance in your games is suffering that much, you might want to consider an upgrade, though.

POS = piece of sh!t. Megatomic is right, your card could have a poor thermal bridge, in which case, you shouldn't OC it. But either way, you'll probobly notice marginal gains in overclocking, so if it works better without overclocking, just dont do it!

How do you know that your GPU temp. is 34C? I have had many NV cards in the past, one of them was a 5700U. No where did I see a readout of the GPU temp. No where.

you assumed i didnt know what my gpu temp is...and yes i clearly see my gpu temp. "Properties > settings> advanced>geforce fx 5700>temperature settings>34 C
