ok ive never really tried overclocking this cpu, but i need some advice on how far i can go. ive got the stock intel heatsink and 3 case fans around it, idle temp is bout 39degrees. how far do you think i could possibly go? would it be a good idea to raise the multiplier or raise the fsb? i dont know how far my ram will go but its rated as ddr400. thanks

I would raise the cpu voltage to 1.55, and try 220 fsb to start. Run it awhile, and see how stable it is, or use a testing program such as prime 95 and run for several hours. Then gradually raise the fsb. I use 267 on my 2.8c with the memory setting at 333. Some boards have ratios instead. On your board, it might be 4:3 instead of 333.

you can't change the multiplier, so i'd say about 3.5 is you max without better cooling. that's a 233 fsb. depending on your memory you will probably have to set it to a 5:4 divider.

I've got a 3.0C too, and I'm wondering if I'd get better performance by setting my RAM to 333 MHz instead of 400 MHz, and seeing if I can increase clock speed of my CPU some more.

Would I be better of with a 1:1 divider, or a 5:4 divider?

As things sit right now, my RAM tops out at 440 MHz (220 x 2) with a 1:1 divider, so I can't try and overclock my CPU anymore.

Go with the 5:4 divider. My generic pc3500 will even run at case 2, but only 3-3-6 for the timings. I wouldn't go much higher than 1.55 volts without a premium heatsink, and you won't notice enough difference to justify spending the extra money. I lowered my heatsink rpms to 2600 at idle, and the stock Intel copper heatsink still provides adequate cooling.
