First time over clocking here. The other day I started bumping up my FSB a little got it to around 213 and decided that was enough, so I ran Prime 95 and memtest a couple of nights, rock solid no errors on either. Now that?s all I did, I did not adjust my voltages or memory.
So last night I decide, ok let?s take it up a little, I?m thinking let?s try just 215, well I did an no boot. So I bump up my vcore a little from 1.55 to 1.6, still no boot. Again I go up to 1.6, no boot. I think that it?s time to adjust my RAM (which is not the greatest at all) so I loosen the timing from 2.5, 3, 3, 8, 2T to 3, 4, 4, 10, 2T??still no boot. I remember that I should have probably raised my memory voltage before I loosened my timings (is that right?) so I put that up to 2.7. Boots up! Ok now we are in business, but I?m still not really sure what he issue was, meaning did I need to bump up my vcore that much or was it just the RAM from the beginning?
Anyway I decide to bump it up to 216 now, but when I restart my machine in the boot up screen I can see the FSB had defaulted back to 200 and the RAM timings went back to stock and it said it was going to boot up in Safe Mode to go into Bios and adjust my settings. So I go in and my settings are still set to the 215 with all the timings and voltages where I had left them? I then bump up my vcore again to 1.7 (is that the max I should do or not?) and it boot?s up fine. Again I reset and it says the same thing, I go into Bios do not change anything, save to cmos and it boots up fine.
So now it?s getting late and I?m thinking that I should just run Prime to see if it?s stable, but let me just run PC Mark04 real quick and see what I get?..doesn?t make it all the way thru, aborts the process. I leave it at that, I go back down to my 213 FSB and reset my voltages and memory timings to where I know they are stable.
Where should I go from here? Do you think my RAM is just not good enough or should I loosen the timing even more then I did? Up my voltages even more then 1.7 for cpu and 2.7 for my memory? Oh also the whole time my temps are great I never see it go over 47 so that?s not my problem. Thanks for any opinions; I know this was a lot to read.
