Overclocking the k6-3+450

Hi,
The standard Vcore for the K6-3+ is 2.0V but it's at 2.1V right now... I want to boost the CPU to 600MHz but to do that I have to up the Vcore to maybe 2.3V cuz 2.2V isn't enough... what I want to know is that by upping the Vcore can I damage my CPU? My temp reads 32C about and I have a decent HSF on the CPU.

basically, dont crank it too high or your cpu will fry..

You can damage it if the Vcore is too high. But 2.3V should be ok. 32C isn't anything to be worried about.

Although, I might suggest trying to trade/sell that thing. K6-3+'s are worth their weight in gold to some people. I traded mine for a Duron and Mobo...

I'd be careful about putting to much voltage through that thing.(fried cpu=0mhz) but the K6+ procs are actually rated upto 2.1v.- it's in the AMD tech papers somewhere.

are you oc'ing the fsb at all? or just the multiplier? does it do 5.5x100 fine? what are load temps at 550?

I have a brand new K63+ 450 ACZ for sale. I bought it a year ago but never used it. I'm looking for $85 for it! It'd hard as hell to find a new K63+ nowadays! E-mail me if interested.

I'm only upping the multiplier to 5.5x100.
If I put it at 2x100 (2 = 6 with the k6-3+) it won't work ... even if the vcore is at 2.2V ... so I just want to try 2.3V
i could up the fsb ... but I don't want to damage any of my stuff...

I only got my K6-3 450 only up to 512, and the voltage certainly didn't get as high as 2.3! I was warned to back off early - I am not keen on burnt ROM smell that I did with KS 3.1 ROMS in the old days
