Overclocking X2 3800+

i am currently in the process of overclocking my processor, and have gotten to a rock solid 2.6ghz (260x10) with a ram divider (which puts my corsair value select at 216mhz). but when i take it any higher, the system does not post. i have liquid cooling on the proc, so i know its not heat related, at least not for the proc. i was wondering if there is anything that i am overlooking that is preventing me from getting a higher overclock. any ideas/suggestions? thanks

set HTT multiplier to like 3x and put a larger ram divider to make sure it's not ram related. Have you tried increasing vCore, what's your voltage currently?

Like he said, its obvious its your ram. You already got that value stuff at 216mhz, thats already beyond what I would think it could do. Sounds like you have it at 1:1. Set a divider.

ive tried setting the ram divider to slow the ram down further than it already is, and this has not worked.

also, the vcore is set to .05 above stock

.05 isnt much. Try a bit higher. Might need to relax memory timings as well.

What mobo is it? Some mobo's do have bios bugs that will not post at a certain htt setting, but if you raise the htt 2-3mhz above the unpostable setting it would then post. Ex: Instead of 261mhz, try 262, 263, 264, ect... But it could of course be a great many other factors that is keeping it from posting any higher, even from going just 1mhz higher.

You're lucky your Corsair VS even gets to DDR432

he did in fact state that a lower RAM divider has not helped the problem. My vote goes for more vcore. He's running his RAM @ 333Mhz or 83%, whichever his BIOS calls it (mine calls it 333Mhz). The OP should probably run memtest86 at his current speed to see if it fails test 5 and/or 6. My Corsair 3200LL starts failing memtest86 at 215 regardless of voltage or timings.

I hit a wall @ 2650Mhz with my X2 3800+, so it's probably just how far your chip will go.

He's right- I hit the same wall with a 4200.

2.6ish seems to be the place where most 3800+'s stop, so i think ill just stop there and be happy. thanks for the comments, guys
