I finally received my desktop from Overdrive PC. I cannot express enough how pleased I am with this machine....So I thought I'd share some photos and comments about the company...

After having so much trouble w/my Voodoo Rage F-1, I was left in the cold as to which company to spend my money on. The whole experience of buying a high dollar custom system and having nothing but problems left a bad taste in my mouth.

There are a good number of PC makers out there, making my choice a difficult one.. I spent literally hours on the phone talking with FNW, Hypersonic, and a company called Overdrive PC.
I came to the conclusion that FNW was a little too expensive for what I was wanting to spend (I was trying to stay under the 5k mark) . Hypersonic makes great machines as well, my GX-7 notebook has been flawless...No crashes, runs like a champ and has been what I expected for this caliber notebook. I just wanted to try something different...

Next on the list came OverdrivePC. I called them after the problems I'd had w/Voodoo, explaining to Mario (one of the owners and pc builder) the problems I've had, what I was looking for, and wanted to know what their company has to offer...

I was immediately impressed with Mario's knowledge. This guy is a total wizard. His skills of hacking processors to increase speeds for both the CPU and GPU are unmatched. The custom wiring is an art form in itself, and the paint is equal to or better than the work from FNW. All this coming @ a price savings below the previously mentioned makers. Mario actually tried to save me money...Unlike the other guys recommending all the "newest and fastest" most expensive technology.

I was originally going to get the FX-53, but Mario told me he could take the FX-51 and clock it as high or higher than a FX-53. How many makers would do such a thing? Save you a couple a hundred bucks and match or beat the FX-53's performance.....all covered under OPC's warranty. I was blown away by this...My choice was becoming easier to make...

After pondering what to do, I took a leap of faith. Remember, This is a small boutique maker and not a major player...yet....., so I was somewhat nervous about dumping all this cash into a company I'd never really heard of. Then I read the comments from other OPC owners that had posted their evaluations on resellerratings.com. The fact that the company is a mere 3hr drive from my home also helped in the decision making process.

Here is what Mario and I came up with.....
-Overdrive PC- [Lian Li] PC-6070 Metallic Blue Automotive paint
AMD FX-51
Gigabyte K8NNXP-940
Zalman® 400 Watt Power Station
Sapphire ATI X800 XT PE
Centron® 1GB | PC4000 | Registered ECC Dual Channel DDR SDRAM
LG Super Multi Recorder 12X DVD RW
RAID 0 [SATA] Single Drives (2) | Western Digital® Raptor" | 36GB |
[SATA] Single Drive | Maxtor® DiamondMax Plus" | 160GB | SATA150 | 8MB |
Silent Twin Fan "SureCool System"
10/100/1000 Ethernet
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS

My machine came with an AMD FX-51 clocked at 2.4.....and a savings of over $200 B)
1 Gig of Centron PC4000 memory clocked at 540Mhz
Sapphire X800XT PE hacked to 594 core and 573 memory(not some overclocking utility, but a real hack).....This machine runs like melted butter.

Not only does this machine run fast, but was built with much time and care as you will see from the pictures included below.
All machines need a good cooling system, and wiring must be done properly in order to create the best airflow possible. No tie wraps inside this machine. Everything is sleeved and attached w/velcro wraps...Rounded ATA cables, custom soldering, etc. The attention to detail is obvious. Every screw, not just the ones on the side panels, come with a washer and rubber grommet. A very unique touch that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but functional. I've never seen anything like it. The detail shows the level of pride and time put into building this machine....It really is piece of work.

The paint came flawless...No orange peel reflections anywhere on this machine. Absolutely TOP NOTCH. The paintwork is done in Atlanta, GA. @ shop that specializes in Ferrari restorations. They have to get a chuckle out painting computer panels..LOL. But again, the quality is apparent.

After receiving my machine, I've put @ least a hundred or so hours burning thru games and software programs with no glitches period. This machine is rock solid and stable as can be. No lock ups...no blue screens. Nothing but cyberbliss for me... evil:

The other day, I called OPC to thank them for taking such good care of me, and mentioned I'd be down in Atlanta for a day on business. Mario quickly suggested I stop in to meet him and see what OPC was all about. I was floored.... They welcomed me into their home(office) and treated me with the utmost respect, shared some of the newer technology they are developing (I'm sworn to secrecey...sorry) and made quite an impression on me. Everyone from the other partners in the business to the receptionist and the guys back working in the lab made an effort to come and talk to me. I was there for well over two hrs. getting filled with so much information, it was mind boggling.

Now for some photos...

Around 4400...
As for the score, It is above average according to the compare scores online for identical CPU and GPU, post cheat drivers. The highest it has gone is 4681 I believe. I have not tried any beta drivers yet...
Any suggestions would be appreciated.....

As for '03 it ran a 13,351 and '01 was over 30k....

No offense taken...
I don't have the time or patience for DIY, and I wanted to try something different. The previous desktop I owned was such a disappointment, I just wanted to share how pleased I am w/OPC....Thats all!
