Got more problems. My CPU stays between 32-high 30s, but my mobo fluxes still way too much. At first, was getting 38-40C now computer at startup gets 40C then crawls to 41-42C, at load 45C. Thought this was ok, but then my scrensaver started stagering. Maybe I have a voltage problem? I wish I could check the volts under load, but PCProbe only checks at desktop. Could still be my accelero. Could be my case (thermaltake tsunami - I dont think this case gets good air flow)

EDIT BIOS reading for CPU is 5C higher than PCProbeII
Edit 2: dude, the accelero is right there, right on top of the south bridge or whatever that box is on the southern end of the mobo. that's gotta be doing something!

Temp rising again. 40C CPU and 46C mobo on idle after running a game for 1 hour. The south square bridge or whatever that is with the ALife logo is freakn hot. Room is hotter today though. Would reappling thermal paste help?

Same issue here,.. as the CPU/MB temp on startup in BIOS begin at 37/36C CPU/MB
then go up between 40-50C in BIOS!!! Can't seem to figure out what is wrong here.. my specs are:

A8N32-SLI
Opterton 170 dual-core
(2) 512MB pc3200 2-2-3-6
evga 7900GTX 512MB

mind you.. the board it's not even inside the case at the moment,.. it's outside my desktop and i got my AC blasting so room temp it's pretty cool,.. I'm gonna reapply my HSF with more arctic silver compound,.. but this is the SECOND mb with this problem as i figure the old one was just buggy, but this one it's giving me same issues.. btw i'm running 1103 bios and i don't see why the 1205 bios would have a fix on sensors as this issue it's not stated int he changelog for the 1205 bios update.. Another thing i like to say,.. is that since i can't even install windows to use the asus bios update utility since.. the EZ-FLASH utility gets stuck on "Readinf file blahblah.iso" ,.. and yes this happent on both boards.. so it's not this board that has a broken ez-flash utility.. oh a tip for some of you that might have an older revision of this board.. look at your south/north bridges for sticks on the plates.. if they has trasnparent stickers.. peel them off.. this will gain you 4-5C in lower temps.. mine didn't come with this labels....

good luck.. keep this thread updated for others...

likewhoa:

I used the EZ Flash method for 1205 and it worked just fine.
I just renamed whatever the 1205 bios file was named to A8N32SLI.ROM.

The directions for the AFUDOS method won't work as they describe the steps.
They describe how to make an XP bootable floppy then add the bios util and bios
file to it .... there will not be enough room on the floppy.

Since this board has a heat-pipe, forced air from your case fans essential for cooling.
Having the board outside the case with no case fans IMO is not a good idea no matter the ambient temp.

Happy trailz,

mine just gets stuck on reading A8N32SLI.ROM and just doesn't go any further.. It can't be the floppy since it's actually reading it.. or could this be the case? I'm gonna watercooled the cpu/gpu in a bit, with a swiftech kit,.. i'll keep everyone posted.. i'll upload pics also..

UPDATE:
Temps are stable in bios at 32/32 cpu/mb but this is with the AC on,.. gonna setup cooling tomorrow,..

UPDATE:
2006-06-19
System it's idleing at 28C/34C cpu/mb and i haven't even started to watercool it ..

if they has trasnparent stickers.. peel them off..

This worked like a charm for me.
There are three in total and since they are transparent cannot see them.
Got about a 5 degree drop in temparatures.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Jack,

Where is the third, as I found them on the North & Southbridge heatsink covers (AL logo and Asus logo on them) on one MOBO, but where was the third one, as I am sure I found only two on that board and actually on a second board they had already been removed?

Thanks

Ridesy

jack111 np,.. also if you have acrtic silver, use it! this will help, make sure to peel of any other thermal paste that's allready on your HS..

the third one is on the heatsink immediately above the processor. It is quiet wobbly so be careful while you remove it.

im really puzzled by ya'lls issues...i've never had any heat issues with mine. from bios 1109 to 1205...all temps have remained relatively the same. Are ya'll using BTX style cases or something? the passive heatpipes doesn't work properly in an upside down configuration.

ok I got this rigged watercooled and it's freaking flying.. specs are

a8n32-sli
opteron 170 @ 2000mhz
evga 7900gtx
swiftech H20-220 APEX ULTRA kit
2x 512mb kingston hyperx 2-2-3-5

OC results
CPU OC 280x10 multiplier at 1.4V that's a 140% OC!!
TEMPS CPU
avg/load 25C/39C
TEMPS MB
avg/load 27C/35C

P.S only gpu&cpu are watercooled and i got the pump's outlet going into the cpu inlet..
might get some thermal electric cooling for cpu so that i can break 3000mhz on this baby..

If you're looking to OC this baby,.. make sure you have an AC in the room or your ambient temp will suck and the rest will follow.

red5, your mobo temp is perfectly fine, the reason it is warmer is because it is a x32 lane board on both PCI-E slots. That is a lot of juice! on a regular A8N-SLI Deluxe it is x16 split in half in SLI mode, therefore the two PCI-E slots are only funning at half of each cards full potential (16 lanes each). Hell, in my nVidia monitor program my A8N-SLI is running at 43C, and that is with maybe 30% load? So basically you have nothing to worry about in my opinion. Those temps are expected. However, the guy who said if they reach around 70C, I would agree with him on that one. Good luck with that pretty little board.

all that s**t off - hmm maybe there was too much compound on there - always a good idea to use artic silver and makesure cleaned with alcohol - 100 percent , instructions are on their website and even if not usin ac its still a good guide - maybe replace compound on northbridge hs as well - i have come across many that dont sit properly over time and that would seriously affect temps - hope this helps

You could be having a case Air flow problem.

I have a A8N-SLI Dexlue. If I have the side panel fan blow out the mobo sits and runs underload between 34 and 40 C, however the CPU idles at about 40 and goes up to 55+ while underload.

If I reverse that fan the CPU is nice and cool but the mobo heats up and idles at like 45C and pushes 50 while underload.

I have the same mobo. That mobo is known to run hot. Mine idles at 40C. Before I turned my side intake up it ran at about 46-47C....but I am overclocking and before I OC'd it ran at 36C with the 1205 BIOS.

I have a similiar setup except I have the Zalamn 9500 CPU fan which fits great.
I normally have temps in the mid 30's but according to a temp probe I have not the BIOS since I have heard about incorrect temps it spits out. Highest temp i have had on it was 49C and that was on load and playing COD2 for awhile.
I also have had no problems updating the BIOS on this mobo since I have it for close to a year now since it 1st came out.
