I didn't get this either. Even fully shielded with lucios ult, still kills us all.

There are only two things in the game that can block D.Va's Self-Destruct: LoS and shields. It doesn't even matter if the ultimate deals full damage to a shield with 1 health left, it will still block the entire amount. Reinhardt is actually incredibly powerful against a D.Va ultimate since he can just shield his entire team and only lose about 600-1000 off his shield (depends on how far he is from the blast). Winston can do the same.

Also, I don't think most realize this, but you can use the craziest things for LoS. You know those street signs in Hollywood with the thin, metal posts? Those can LoS D.Va's ultimate. Also, you can LoS anything with Mei's Ice Block, but Blizzard is not responsible for any PTSD brought back from past Sindragosa failed encounters. ("Suffer mortals as your pathetic magic beeeetraaaays you!")

That's why they reduced the detonation time. Currently, the running joke you'll hear is "Who dies to D.Va's ult anymore!?". Consequently, that's also why she doesn't die to her own ult anymore as it would probably be too hard for her to get out in time depending on where it was used.

By the way, did anyone see the tournament thing that was on Monday on Twitch? Good god... one of those matches was just savage. It was Code7 vs. EnvyUs on Dorado with the latter being on defense. Even though Code7 had just beaten Cloud9 earlier that night (Cloud9 being in the top five if not top three teams), Envy stomped them into the ground. I mean... if you've ever had a bad pub match, that's what it looked like. Code7 literally could not leave their spawn without having their entire team decimated. The cart went nowhere and they gave up with 1:30 on the clock. (They never would have been able to beat Envy's time at that point anyway.)

the only times i've died to D.Va's Ult after the first week was when I as an unskilled D.Va newb picked her not knowing how to launch her Mech.

1. Charge ultimate
2. See a nice juicy group of the enemy team
3. Press Q
4. Realize that I did it wrong, and her mech suit is now going critical right in front of me.

From watching PTR steams, I can't say I'm excited about most of this patch. Between the Mercy buff, the Mcree buff, and the Zen buff (he needed something) the game looks like it's on rails now.

Well yes, but its trivially easy to break LOS to it. Or Rein and winston can shield it. I play a pretty good amount of D.VA. Its easily one of the weakest ults in the game since its so easy to avoid. At least once you get out of no00b/very low MMR range.

That's the point... it's hard to kill even one person now that people know to run away. With the change you can get your own ticks on a cap, as well as making it a second harder to run away.

Diva's ult was no more or less easier to avoid then hanzo's. If you are stupid and fire it when everyone is expecting something and there are ample ways to run away, you deserve no kill. The idea is to use it when the enemy is held in position for some reason, or in a spot they can't avoid it. I don't like the new timer, running away is kind of impossible. IMO no ult should guarantee death like that. But I guess I can say the same about mcree's ult which is certain death for 2-3 people.

Not at all. Hanzo's ult goes through walls and can be activated from unpredictable directions with little to no notice because of that. If you're finding people avoiding your hanzo ult it means you are a bad hanzo.

Played a handful of quick matches yesterday. Oh my goodness, it was bad. Per usual, stuck on awful teams. I'm still pretty low level at 37, playtime slowed down quite a bit the last few weeks

I've been playing exclusively on PTR since it's been up. Why keep working under an about-to-be-expired ruleset? I already have all the skins and stuff I want.

Yah, I've been having some seriously bad matchups the last couple of days. Not sure what is going on but its been almost all blowouts one way or the other.

Extra Creditz described this sort of thing in their discussion on randomness. Their example was using Blizzard's Hearthstone in how cards with too much RNG have too high of a swing, which either leads to extreme happiness (it just happened to do that one thing that you needed) or extreme displeasure (it failed, and cost you the match). How does this apply to Overwatch? Well, it seems like the matchmaking "feels" the same way. It's rare to get into a match that feels close (very little swing), but rather, games either feel like a landslide in either direction, which results in that extreme happiness (easy win) or extreme displeasure (crushing loss).

It's nice to win, but I think most people will tell you that some of their favorite games were during close matches. Heck... sometimes, we're happy about those even when you lose, because they were so engaging.

Because zarya is bugged and will steam roll a match, mercy's buff is being rescinded, and none of your gains on the PTR will come back to live. Even if you DON'T want any more skins you can still get money.

Zarya isn't bugged, and the Mercy change was already reverted in a midweek PTR patch.

not a moment too soon. We were destroying the greek map in competitive last night till the other side switched to 4 winstons. ended up winning, but that was pure cheese

I think it will be interesting to see how Ana will shape the meta. I didn't play her on the PTR, but I did watch EnvyUs's ChipsHajen (their Mercy player) play her quite a bit. He seemed to think that she may have a place, and possibly even replacing Mercy in some situations. Of course, that may change as they do some scrimmaging, but it would be interesting not to see Mercy as a default pick in every match.

I'll probably try her out, but I'm also quite interested in the Zenyatta and McCree changes. I've always liked playing Zenyatta, and it'll be great to have a bit more survivability. Although, it's a bummer to see that my damage will go down a bit (about 10-20%). Hmm... I do wonder if the Orb of Discord speed increase could actually increase the damage a bit too.

As for McCree, I'm looking forward to using him as more of a Pharah counter. Whenever there's a Pharah, everyone's all "Someone switch to Soldier!", but in my experience, it is not fun trying to kill Pharah as Soldier when you're at a long distance. I feel like I always hit her a bit, but the spread/aiming and fall-off usually just leads to Pharah only losing maybe 30-50% of her life before she can drop behind cover or get healed by Mercy. Although, I'll need to be able to aim properly to handle McCree too.

The stealth nerf to Zenyatta was the reduction of the projectile hitbox. But this applies to all non-hitscan (including Pharah).

I was playing Saturday and noticing I was getting onto some truly awful teams. The kind where you're on an escort map and everyone is running around like it's deathmatch fighting everywhere but on the car. That was a miserable session. The next day I was playing grouped up with my daughter, and it was much better. I'm thinking that when I queued solo I was getting the slot left open by someone who quit in disgust, while having two of us queued put us into more fresh games where there was a possibility not everyone was terrible.

That or I really suck and my daughter is carrying me, LOL.


Edit: Zenyatta got nerfed? Darn, I had just started adding him to my list of favorite characters. I quite like the orb gameplay, and was having fun shooting a Pharah out of the sky several times in one match, once just as she started her ult.

I love this game, I play it a hell of a lot but we didn't need a new character, we need some new maps. I'm getting kind of tired of playing the same small amount of maps. I'll even take variations of the maps we already have.
