Is it me or hacks have been deployed? Now and then I see aimbotters. YES maybe... MAYBE they have good aim but 10/10 aim? I don't think so

Played a couple matches recently. Got killed a couple times in a row from someone having a split second visibility to me at a reasonable distant from a revolver in one shot. Unless they've added widow maker qualities to the handgun, seemed odd to me dieing 4 times to 4 shots..

Is a headset required in this game ? I hear that it is pretty much team focused. Any cheap headset would work I imagine. I never was a big PC multiplayer person.

They've just banned 7500 more people today.

You technically don't need one, but I'd recommend having one. It's very helpful to your team to be able to report things like static defenses (Torbjorn turrets, snipers, etc.) or dictate team direction.

I'll probably pick up some turtle Beach z11's from Amazon before I get this game. I hope it will still be fun to play by that time. I'll talk by brother into also getting it. I also have some coworkers that play it and they had asked if I checked it out yet.

Plus I can also use the z11 with the ps4 if I want to. Thought about going with the ps4 gold headset as that also works on PC but I don't feel the need to spend that much on them as I most likely won't be doing a lot of multiplayer on the PC..maybe when battlefield 1 is out.

I never wanted to rage in this game more than I did after playing last night. De-leveled from a 48 down to a 46. After playing 2 games back to back with people leaving for various reasons ("my dad is telling me to go to bed!", to "brb", and then never coming back) i played another 2 games of not one person typing anything in the team chat, not even a hello, let alone using the team voice chat. 2 of the games had groups of 3-4 people, and solo queuer's like me. each time i carried with 3 gold medals. tried to get people to speak up or listen to me but all i got was dead silence.

Also, I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish that they would make joining the team voice chat the default option when playing a competitive game. When you join a competetive game when queued up with someone you are in your own personal group chat until you press P and then change to the team. I think this is a very bad default option as it discourages team chat in some people. Some even get pissy at me for asking them to switch to the team chat, wtf! F$*@&@&$# kids!

Don't forget that there are a bunch of us here that play too. Albeit, I haven't been on much lately, but I should be on more now. If you see a plus by my name, and I'm not in a game, you can just invite me.

I joined up with some non-AT people yesterday, and ugh... I really hate getting stuck as tank for people that I don't know very well. It's not too bad with Zarya or Roadhog as they're more of the "DPS Tank", but Reinhardt really requires your team to play well as you're not usually dealing damage. It's kind of like playing Mercy and only being able to heal or boost vs. other healers that can also DPS.

I think part of the problem comes from bad habits that we've formed from normal play. During closed beta, I found people to be far more chatty, and in turn, so was I. However, people are so quiet during release that I've found myself being far more quiet than I should be, which bugs me. I'll still do important things like call out a Bastion or a flanker trying to come behind us.

Also, I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish that they would make joining the team voice chat the default option when playing a competitive game.

There is actually a setting in the options to auto-join team voice. So, they could definitely change it to be on by default. Although, that's one big change that I've noticed from beta to release: fewer people that I play with want to join team voice, and these are the same people that were adamant about it before.

There have been many people quiting in the middle of competitive play lately Luckily for me I was on the team that noone quit on.. but on the other teams they were down to 2 people. This happened to me twice in the past 2 days.. out of maybe 6 games total. I felt bad for the remaining players.

I thought we were past this but I guess not. Hanzo and Widowmaker on attack. This is what frustrates me most about the game. It's not me getting killed or just having a bad day. It's knowing that our team is basically screwed already before we even start and can't do anything at all about it other than just drop or waste my time losing.

its a team based, competitive FPS with "relaitively low TTK"

it's also cosmetically designed to appeal to kids.

Sadly this game is beyond boring for me. I purchased it on release hoping it would bring me back into the world of first-person shooters, but sadly it has not. I guess I will stick with the Dota2s and POEs of the world.

Played a kings landing match and we did fairly well on attack. time for us to defend, and two guys grouped together decide to go tracer and genji. I asked that maybe they should reconsider their selection, and instead i got called the N word by one of them. obviously we lost, but it was a complete waste of time at that point.
nothing any of us could have done except for report him for harassment, but who knows if that even goes anywhere.

The thing is.. Tracer and Genji can be fine on Defense just as Widowmaker and Hanzo can be fine on Offense. The issue usually lies with the player just not being good enough at that hero, or just playing it completely wrong for that match up. Thinking about it... with how much play Zarya gets in this meta, using Widowmaker or Hanzo over Junkrat might not be the worst idea because Junkrat's spammy nature tends to feed Zarya's charge. I bring that up since Junkrat is pretty much the only Defense hero to see a decent amount of play in higher-level games. (He's actually really good.)

I had some pretty awkward games last night. I was in a 5-man group -- of which I only knew one of the people -- and not to toot my own horn or anything, but I think there was a bit of a skill difference. I usually got stuck healing (as most people tend to insta-lock DPS), so of course, I just choose Zenyatta. (I've never been a fan of playing Lucio.) So, why do I say there was a bit of a skill disparity? Well... when you're playing Zenyatta and you consistently get gold in eliminations, damage done and healing, you know there's a problem.

The last match that I played, which tilted me enough to make me quit for the night, was against 4 Symmetras, 1 Torbjorn and 1 Bastion on Hanamura (Attack). I started off as Zenyatta and found that my team could pretty much kill no one. I got fed up with it and switched to McCree. I was able to get some good shots on them, but it was hard to kill them off while trying to avoid Bastion and the multitude of orbs coming through. (I was able to keep Bastion at bay for a bit on Zenyatta given the lack of fall-off on Zen's orbs.) In hindsight, I probably should've just switched to Pharah and called for a pocket Mercy. With some assistance from a Widowmaker or something dealing with Bastion, it would've been a lot better given how Pharah decimates Symmetra.

Of course it is. Game made for COD kids in the 1st place. Got bored of it after 30 hours. Played BF1 and it is not much better either.

How is 60 tick experience for anyone that played on it on PC? Feeling smooth?

They announced a new map today, which appears to be a reverse-Hybrid map, which would be escort then capture vs. Numbani's capture then escort. The map takes place in Germany at Eichenwalde, which is also where Bastion came from. The map is due out in September.

You won't need a mic right away anyways. Get comfortable with the different heroes and maps, figure out what it is you like to play, etc. Do all of that in Quick Play. You won't need a mic for that. I never join group chat when in QP. Once you get a feel for it you can start getting in some competitive games (if you want, don't need to if you don't want to). That's when a mic will come into play.

I don't think the changes are all too bad. I'm glad to see D.Va getting adjusted a bit as she was a bit ridiculous at times.

  • Hanzo: I'm hoping that the increased speed will make people treat him less like a turret that fires arrows randomly since he'll be a bit more mobile.
  • Mei: I think her Blizzard change will see a lot of people missing ultimates now as they end up tossing it through the shield and past the enemies. They did also fix the annoying bug where an ice wall placed at her feet would sometimes just push her to the side. That was a bit irritating when you'd do that to try to get up somewhere, and it wouldn't work.
  • McCree: The change to Deadeye is definitely huge, but I think it points out a problem with McCree. His Deadeye is arguably one of the most tactical ultimates in the game and has a heavy reliance upon Lucio to make it more feasible. That's part of the reason why people just abused it, and used it more as a zoning tool rather than expecting to get kills.
  • Mercy: It's good to see her healing adjusted, but honestly... I never thought her healing was that bad to begin with. The only thing that truly hampers her healing is the fact that she can never keep up with a target that is being focus fired, has Zenyatta's Orb of Discord, or both. The resurrect change is fine as it may help avoid the super awkward situation where you die to an ultimate, and then D.Va just ultimates right after you get resurrected, which leads to everyone dying again.
  • Genji: This is probably one of the largest changes as they've severely reduced Genji's manuverability. Essentially, skilled Genji players would use the wall climb to gain more jumps to help reach other platforms/areas, but that won't work anymore. They've also killed off Genji's quick combo, which I believe was RMB -> Melee -> Swift Strike (Dash) as you can't cancel the melee animation with Swift Strike anymore. Originally, the combo was so fast, that you'd see a good Genji kill lower health targets within a second. Genji can also now be snared by traps if he uses Swift Strike over top of them. He also had his ultimate reduced from 8 seconds to 6 seconds, which I assume is to put it in line with Zenyatta's transcendence.
  • Lucio: I understand why they changed this, but I don't think it will stop Lucio from being an important part of team line-ups. A 70% movement increase is still huge... especially when combined with his ultimate.
  • Roadhog: I think this change will appease a lot of players as I'm sure everyone here has been hooked by a Roadhog after you moved behind cover. Although, I really wish that they'd fix his hook physics to stop characters like Lucio, Genji and Tracer from being pulled anywhere but in front of Roadhog.
  • Zenyatta: The Orb of Discord change was expected, and it's now put in line with Mercy's damage amplification. Although, his orb damage was also increased, so instead of dealing 40 + 20 to an orb'd target, he'll deal 46 + 13.8.

Good to know I plan on trying it this weekend. Sounds like the heros have a lot of abilities so I just need one I can feel comfortable with. I'll eventually get a mic though since coworkers may want to play and I'll probably see people from this thread too.

The roadhog update is actually a buff. If you are hooked and had just gotten into cover it will move you to the original "hooking point" then drag you to roadhog. No longer will you sometimes get snagged on walls/pillars and ;live to tell the tale.

and fuck Hanzo. I can't believe they reverted the projectile change AND buffed him. Genji needed a nerf but they might have taken it too far, we'll see. Although he always should have been snagged by junkrat traps. Just like any other hero.
